Abstract: Single blade, single cut tubing cut-off apparatus moves a blade along a first path of travel in which a first portion of the blade pierces the tubing and a second path of travel in which a second portion of the blade completes the cut, all in a concerted process. Motion of the blade is controlled by a cam and follower. The tubing is clamped for cutting by a pair of pivotably mounted jaws opened and closed by spring biased cam action.
Abstract: Composition and process for inflating an automobile or aircraft safety crash bag comprising igniting at elevated pressure a pyrotechnic material comprising at least one tetrazole or triazole compound containing hydrogen in the molecule, at least one oxygen containing oxidizer compound, and at least one metal oxide to generate a gas which is admixed with air by means of an aspirating venturi and thereafter utilized to inflate the crash bag.
Abstract: A matched impedance coaxial connector for use in the transmission of high frequency signals utilizing a twist pin connector combined with a sliding interface which does not require full mating for successful performance.
Abstract: Gas generating compositions containing an inorganic metal azide, a primary metal oxide oxidizing compound and a secondary oxidizing compound in combination with clay as a means of controlling the burn rate. Metal nitrates are preferred as the secondary oxidizing compound.
Abstract: An acceleration sensor comprises a housing having a magnetically permeable element, such as a steel washer, secured thereto proximate with an end of a cylindrical passage formed therein; a magnetic sensing mass in the passage which is displaced in response to acceleration of the housing from an initial position within the passage proximate the steel washer to a second position within the passage when such acceleration overcomes the magnetic bias of the sensing mass towards the steel washer; a pair of electrically conductive rings encompassing the passage so as to provide magnetic damping for the sensing mass during the displacement thereof; and a pair of beam contacts projecting from the housing into the passage so as to be bridged by the sensing mass when the sensing mass is displaced to the second position within the passage.
Abstract: Composition and process for inflating an automobile or aircraft safety crash bag comprising igniting a pyrotechnic composition to generate a gas which is admixed with air by means of an aspirating venturi which results in substantially non-toxic products which are thereafter utilized to inflate said crash bag.
Abstract: A vacuum dump valve comprises a housing having a cylindrical cavity therein communicating with ambient pressure and with a vacuum line, and a plunger in said cavity having a pair of diametrically spaced tabs acceptable in a pair of slots in said housing to limit travel and guide the plunger relative to the housing.
