  • Patent number: 4173558
Abstract: A non-aqueous polymeric dispersion of a methacrylic polymer in a non-aqueous continuous phase comprised of a mixture of organic liquids, one of which is an alcohol, when applied to a suitable substrate, dries to produce a clear, glossy film.

  • Patent number: 4169675
Abstract: Apparatus for duplicating microfiche, which is of moderate cost yet which operates rapidly to make duplicates of high quality from both jacketed and unjacketed microfiche. A relatively uniform and collimated light source is provided for use with jacketed microfiche, by utilizing a bank of fluorescent aperture lamps and a bank of cylindrical lenses between the lamps and microfiche, with the side of the lenses closest to the microfiche being flattened and with the lenses having baffles of lower index of refraction than the clear segments of the lenses. A developing station for holding gaseous ammonia or other developing medium, is sealed by an inflatable seal.

  • Patent number: 4143969
Abstract: A guide means is provided for guiding diazotype copy sheet material through a developing apparatus over and in contact with a pair of rotatable applicator rollers positioned in axially spaced apart parallel relation. Developer liquid is supplied to the surface of the rollers for developing the copy sheet. The guide means includes a first and a second set of fine, filament-like guide wires strung taut across the rollers in the direction of movement of the sheet material through the developing apparatus. The guide wires of each set are positioned in spaced apart parallel relation, and the wires of one set are offset axially from the wires of the other set. The guide wires prevent the sheet material from becoming wrapped about the applicator rollers during passage of the material through the developing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4142795
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for developing diazotype copy material by the application thereto of a quantity of liquid developer and comprises a heated enclosure for housing a pair of rotatable applicator rollers positioned in axially spaced apart parallel relation. Developer liquid is supplied to the surface of the rollers, and a pair of blade members is mounted adjacent each of the rollers for engagement therewith. One of the blade members of each pair meters the developer liquid on the roller and the other blade member forms a developing zone through which copy sheets are passed to be developed.

  • Patent number: 4141640
Abstract: A developing station for developing microfiche includes a pair of closely spaced walls, an inflatable tube defining the developing region of the station, a system for inflating the tube to seal the region, and a member for transporting a copy sheet into the region. The transporting member is withdrawn from the region during the developing step and moved back into the region subsequent to the developing step to transport the copy sheet from the developing region.

  • Patent number: 4100096
Abstract: Hydrophilic surfaces on lithographic duplicators are cleaned by light rubbing with a liquid composition comprising levigated alumina of small particle size, a surfactant, an aluminum salt and an acidifying agent all dispersed in water. The surface is then rinsed with water to remove the cleaning composition, and is found to be in an ink-free moisture receptive condition.

  • Patent number: 3986871
Abstract: The invention is an improved modulator, in the form of a screen, having the capability of selectively passing therethrough charged particles, such as gas ions, in accordance with a pattern that corresponds to the image and non-image areas of a graphic original. The apertured modulator is formed from a metal screen, such as a 200 mesh wire screen, having a wire cross section of 0.051 millimeter and is overcoated with a four-micron thickness of a photoconductor, such as selenium or an organic photoconductor, over which is next applied an equal thickness of an insulating layer, such as polystyrene. The three-layered modulator constructed in this manner is imparted a charge pattern corresponding to the graphic subject to be reproduced by the creation of a charge distribution system (CDS) on the insulating surface. The CDS created on the modulator in the environment of this invention is completely passive to electromagnetic radiation.
