Abstract: The present invention relates to the compound cyproterone acetate thioacetate (CATA) and compositions comprising CATA. The present invention further relates to methods of treating acne and/or sebaceous gland activity comprising topical application of CATA. The present invention additionally relates to methods of regulating hair growth comprising application of compositions comprising CATA.

Abstract: A microwave susceptor which includes a dielectric substrate and a dry layer of microwave active coating material overlaying at least a portion of the substrate is provided. The coating material includes a silicate binder and an active constituent and the weight ratio of the silicate to active is about 98:2 or less (i.e. less silicate). The dry layer is electrically continuous and has a surface concentration of active constituent of about 1 gram per square meter or greater. Sodium silicate is preferred as the binder and graphite is preferred as the active constituent. In addition additives such as saccharides, glycerine and plasticizers can be added to inhibit thermal shut down and to increase the flexibility of the dry layer. The susceptor can exhibit moderate heat performance or even high heating performance if desired.

Abstract: The subject invention involves compositions, consisting essentially of the drug active 1-3,5-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-hydroxyphenyl-5-hexyn-1-one (tebufelone) at a concentration of at least about 15%, and the balance a pharmaceutically-acceptable vehicle. The vehicle is formulated such that the compositions are homogeneous liquids at 37.degree. C. and provide good solubilization of the drug active.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for regulating hair growth comprising a safe and effective amount of a supernatant derived from a culture of epithelial cells which comprises a growth stimulating factor with characteristics of mitogenicity to dermal papilla cells, mitogenicity to 3T3 cells, lack of mitogenicity to epidermal cells, and a molecular weight of greater than about 3,000D; and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.

Abstract: The present invnetion relates to a compositon for topical application for regulating wrinkles in mammalian skin comprising a benzofuran derivative having the structure ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently methyl or ethyl, R.sup.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, y is an integer from 1 to about 3 and each X is independently selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br, I, F, NO.sub.3, NO.sub.4, SO.sub.3 and SO.sub.4, and a safe and effective amount of a topical carrier.
