Abstract: Multi-armed macromonomers containing multiple side chains attached to a siloxy-containing core terminated on each end with one or more first substantially linear polysiloxane radicals having a polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated-containing terminal group, wherein each side chain comprises a second substantially linear polysiloxane radical having a polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated-containing terminal group are disclosed. Biomedical devices such as contact lenses formed from the multi-armed macromonomers are also disclosed.
Abstract: The present invention relates to hydrophilic dicationic siloxane prepolymers with one polymerizable vinyl moiety instead of two polymerizable vinyl moieties, resulting in contact lenses and/or biomedical devices with reduced cross-link density and modulus without detracting from other properties.
Abstract: This application is directed toward an improved method of synthesizing cationic siloxane prepolymers as well as a specific cationic siloxane prepolymer having improved compatibility with monofunctional siloxanyl methacrylate monomers and medical devices containing the cationic siloxane prepolymer.
