  • Method and composition for direct determination of iron in blood serum

    Abstract: A direct method for determination of iron in blood serum comprising reacting the blood serum with ferrozine in the presence of a reducing agent to bring iron ion into divalent form, thiosemicarbazide and hydrochloric acid at a pH between 1.7 and 2.1, without any addition of buffers and tensioactive agents and determining colorimetrically the iron content of the specimen by means of the colored complex formed between iron ion and ferrozine against a reagent blank.
