  • Patent number: 8201576
Abstract: A check valve assembly installable in a valve body comprising an elastomeric hinge that includes an elastomeric member and a hinge member around which the elastomeric member can bend. The elastomeric member is coupled to the hinge member. At least one rigid valve plate is coupled to the elastomeric member. At least one layer of reinforcement material is coupled to the elastomeric member and extends at least between the hinge member and the at least one rigid valve plate. The reinforcement material is sufficiently flexible to bend over the range of movement of the elastomeric member, substantially unstretchable, and capable of resisting abrasion forces encountered while the check valve is in operation.

  • Patent number: 8196751
Abstract: What is presented is a permanent magnet drum separator for removal of a ferrous fraction from a material stream comprising a pickup magnet that is a rare earth permanent magnet that can be moved within the drum separator. The drum separator comprises a rotatable outer shell having tubular shape with a circular cross section. The drum separator includes a carry magnet that is positioned at a fixed location within the rotatable outer shell near the inside circumference of the rotatable outer shell. The pickup magnet is positioned on a hinge plate within the rotatable outer shell. The hinge plate has a first end attached to a hinge and a second end attached to a movable element. The hinge is positioned at a fixed location within the rotatable outer shell near the inside circumference of said rotatable outer shell. The movable element is able to move the pickup magnet about the hinge to vary the distance between the pickup magnet and the inside circumference of the rotatable outer shell.

  • Patent number: 8162040
Abstract: A heated energy system includes an integral ceramic insert heat exchanger having an integral ceramic construction and an outer ceramic wall that is helical in shape. When the heat exchanger is positioned within a surrounding fluid path enclosure, the outer ceramic wall forms, with the enclosure, at least one spiral path for flowing products of energy generation. No more than one insert body has an outer wall that is helical in shape that is present along the first length of the surrounding fluid path enclosure. The outer ceramic wall receives heat energy when the products of energy generation flow through the fluid path. A method for fabricating integral ceramic insert heat exchangers includes using a tool having a silicon carbide channel and a cavity channel, the silicon carbide channel extending at least partially outside the cavity channel in directions defined by a rotational plane of the tool.

  • Patent number: 8025325
Abstract: A vehicle for fighting fires, retrieving hazardous materials, performing rescues and providing emergency medical services in remote areas comprises an all terrain vehicle suitably equipped for the task it is intended to carry out. As a vehicle for retrieving hazardous materials, it is equipped with a crane (202) to lift a container (204) of waste onto its deck (206). For emergency medical services and searches and rescues, it has a full length protective wire mesh (252) over driver and occupants and a stretcher (254) elevated on cabinetry (258) so that the stretcher extends over the seat back to fit within the confines of the mesh.

  • Patent number: 7891507
Abstract: Decking for a storage rack system is presented in which the decking is formed from a single sheet of sheet metal. The single sheet of sheet metal is cut and folded to form a plurality of parallel deck members having an upper deck surface, a lower deck surface, and sidewalls. The single sheet of sheet metal further folded to form two cross rails perpendicular to the deck members at either end of the deck members. Each cross rail comprises a lower rail surface and a side rail surface. Each lower rail surface overlaps at least a portion of the lower deck surface of the deck members. The lower rail surfaces are secured to the lower deck surface at the overlap of the lower rail surface and the lower deck surface.

  • Patent number: 7780895
Abstract: Methods and apparatus adjustably control the repositioning of non-homogeneous fluid conditions across the stream of a laminar flowing fluid to a desirable circumferential position. The invention is particularly applicable to controlling non-homogeneous melt conditions in hot or cold runner systems. Various mechanisms are provided that enable simple adjustments of a flow diverter within a fluid rotation device, making either static or dynamic adjustments, so that the degree of fluid flow repositioning in a runner system can be changed without the need for mold disassembly or retooling. Various forms of actuators effect adjustment and may be manually manipulated or manipulated through various powered devices.
