Abstract: An ASIC conversion of a programmable logic device (PLD) is provided. The PLD includes a plurality of logic blocks coupled together by a PLD routing structure. The ASIC includes a plurality of logic blocks corresponding on a one-to-one basis with logic blocks in the PLD and a routing structure corresponding to the programmable routing structure of the PLD. Vias or traces are selectively placed in the ASIC so that logical behavior of its logic blocks matches that implemented in the PLD and the signal propagation delay through the ASIC matches the delay through the PLD.
Abstract: In one embodiment, a color projection system includes a lamp; at least one prism configured to diffract light from the lamp into a diffracted beam; and an LC microdisplay panel or MEMS panel configured to receive the diffracted beam from the at least one prism, wherein by moving the at least one prism with respect to the light from the lamp, the diffracted beam received by the LC microdisplay or MEMS panel sequentially comprises a diffracted red beam, a diffracted blue beam, and a diffracted green beam, the LC microdisplay panel or MEMS panel being configured to sequentially modulate the diffracted red beam into a red sub-frame of an image, the diffracted green beam into a green sub-frame of the image, and the diffracted blue beam into a blue sub-frame of the image.
Abstract: A volume-absorbing laser beam dump encloses a solution comprising a laser-absorbing solute diluted in a solvent that is non-absorbent of the laser energy. The laser beam dump includes a window to admit a laser beam into the solution. As the laser beam travels through the solution, the diluted solute absorbs the laser energy.

Abstract: A calibration method for an optical disk drive is presented. The operating parameters of an optical disk drive are initially calibrated when the disk drive is produced or during a repair step. The disk drive is then field calibrated during normal operation. Operating parameters can be field calibrated during power up. Further, operating parameters can be field calibrated when a new optical media is inserted into the optical disk drive. Additionally, operating parameters can be field calibrated during error recovery.
