  • Patent number: 7815618
Abstract: A closed drainage system for irrigating colostomy bags wherein the bag is irrigated and cleaned while in its operable position associated with the person. More specifically, the invention mounts a manifold within the colostomy bag with an access to a water pressure from outside, the manifold providing a spray dispersion of fluid, or water preferably, at the top of the bag and gravity then drips it down through the bag and out the open bottom, preferably with the residue of the bag being washed out by the water and passing into a toilet where the user flushes the bag to completion of cleaning with all residue from the bag passing into the toilet. A water source from the toilet itself, or other suitable water supply, provides the pressured water to the manifold inside the top of the colostomy bag.

  • Patent number: 7779962
Abstract: A muffler is disclosed. In the muffler a throttling device that is controlled by the energy of the airflow to be muffled is provided in a pipeline of the airflow that needs to be muffled. The muffler is adjusted by itself according to random variety of the pulsing airflow, and can eliminate or reduce effectively the pulsation of the airflow and the related noise in the range of the low frequency and the middle frequency. The muffling effect of the muffler has no correlation with the volume of the muffler, and therefore the volume of the muffler can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7764769
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems and methods are presented for handling calls. In one embodiment, an emergency call handling system capable of receiving visual information from callers and correlating the visual information to particular incidents is disclosed. To obtain visual information, a call handler may generate and send an electronic mail message to the caller. The caller may reply to the electronic mail message and attach an image captured with, for example, a camera phone. The visual information may then be correlated to the call between the caller and call handler. In addition, unsolicited visual information received by the emergency call handling system may be prioritized, triaged and delivered to the call handler. The visual information may be used to assess an emergency situation. The visual information may be forwarded to emergency service providers.

  • Patent number: 7676746
Abstract: A system and method for enabling in-context authoring of alternate content for one or more non-textual objects is presented. An electronic document containing content that includes at least one non-textual object is accessed. In-context editing of alternate content corresponding to the non-textual object is facilitated. The alternate content is presented contextually co-located with the content located proximate to a physical placement of the non-textual object. Editing operations are performed on the alternate content in response to editing commands. A system and method for enabling in-context authoring of alternate content for one or more non-textual objects is also presented. An electronic document containing content is accessed. In-context editing of alternate content corresponding to a non-textual object is facilitated. A segment of the content is selected.

  • Patent number: 7674374
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the production of acidic solutions of activated silica for water treatment. Activated silica is formed during the process of acidifying a sodium silicate solution to below pH 4 with sulfuric acid. A polyvalent metal salt is then added to stabilize the acidified activated silica.

  • Patent number: 7646858
Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for handling calls. In one embodiment of the invention, a call handling system is configured for handling a variety of emergency and/or non emergency related calls. The call handling system may enable recognition of and response to received call information. The call handling system comprises a call interface configured for receiving the call information. A processor is communicatively coupled to the call interface and configured for processing the call information to initiate a protocol. This protocol may, as it progresses, be used to generate data for use in a CAD system. The CAD system may subsequently dispatch responders based on the generated data. The call handling system includes an advisory component that recommends a type of dispatch and a risk assessment. The call handling system also includes a build component that allows for the generation of protocols.

  • Patent number: RE41332
Abstract: A gas analysis apparatus, and a method for calibrating it and for compensating measurement errors, are disclosed. This method and apparatus are particularly suited for use during a cardiopulmonary exercise test by a test subject. The oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations of the subject's breath are measured, and errors are compensated based on the results of previous calibration. These compensated measurements, as well as other physiological data monitored during the cardiopulmonary exercise test quantities calculated from these measurements, are presented as a series of graphs in a logical order to enhance their diagnostic and prognostic value. A facemask and headstraps are adapted for use with the gas analysis apparatus. The facemask possesses a plurality of pins fitting into corresponding holes in the headstraps, and the headstraps possess quick-release attachment means to provide for quickly securing the face mask to or removing it from a subject.
