Patent number: 4669702Abstract: The disclosure is related to a high pressure fluid control valve including a valve seat made from a resilient, deformable material and a main valve plug which is matable with the resilient, deformable valve seat. A selectively, axially displacable valve stem is associated with the valve plug whereby a contact load placed upon the valve plug by the valve stem will cause the valve plug to be become imbedded within the deformable material comprising the valve seat when the valve is closed and thereby conform the deformable seat precisely to the contour and configuration of those portions of the valve plug which mate with the valve seat. In this manner, a precise zero-leakage mating is obtained each and every time the plug is mated with the seat. In accordance with the invention, an auxiliary throttle plug is associated with the main valve plug and is arranged to mate with a second, metal valve seat which is arranged in an area removed from the resilient, deformable valve seat.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1984Date of Patent: June 2, 1987Assignee: White Consolidated Industries, Inc.Inventor: Dale S. Patent number: 4662073Abstract: An infinitely variable drawing instrument for producing unlimited varieties of fanciful designs. The designs produced by the drawing instrument are of the repeated individual line type yet indexed around the circumference of a circle. After the various apparatus variables are set by the operator and a piece of paper is located on a drawing platen, the drawing tool or pen nib, located at the end of a drawing bar connected to the driving wheel is placed on the paper and the operator merely rotates the driving wheel by grasping a handle. The simple manual rotation of the driving wheel causes the drawing platen to rotate and, in addition, causes the drawing tool or pen nib to move and thereby draw the fanciful design on the paper. Thus, repeated lines, indexed on a circle, produce unlimited drawing designs. A guiding template and/or an intermediate bar can also be connected between the driving wheel and the drawing bar which provide additional variables for adjustment for making additional drawing designs.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1986Date of Patent: May 5, 1987Inventor: David Prusman

Patent number: 4662526Abstract: A hoisting mechanism for handling the cover of an electric arc furnace comprises a pivotable gantry base and gantry arms connected thereto which extend over the furnace cover. Traverse bars overlay the gantry arms and are connected to the furnace cover by hoisting rods which pass through the gantry arms. Lifting mechanisms preferably in the form of hydraulic piston-cylinder arrangements are secured, on one end, to the gantry arms and, on the other end, to the lower side of the traverse bars. The mechanism is electrically insulated to eliminate deterioration of the equipment and the existence of electrical circuits and, in addition, the hoisting rods and the piston cylinder mechanisms are water-cooled.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1985Date of Patent: May 5, 1987Assignee: Mannesmann AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hans-Ludwig Schaller

Patent number: 4660506Abstract: A pet toilet for use indoors having an automatic cleaning feature. The pet toilet is attached to conventional household drains. The animal stands or sits on a flexible foraminous platform, thereby deflecting it, and relieves itself. Some of the waste passes through the holes in the platform. After the animal leaves, a sensor detects that the flexible platform has returned to its normal level and water is automatically introduced to a level above the level of the platform. An ultrasonic transducer emits ultrasonic waves which clear the platform and other areas of the toilet.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1985Date of Patent: April 28, 1987Inventor: Eric F. Nalven

Patent number: 4652482Abstract: A process for the production of colored films of paper impregnated with synthetic resin which contain melamine resin and have a three-dimensional surface structure, by printing the paper films with a colored pattern using an aqueous protein-based printing ink and lacquering thereover. The color which is printed in the regions in which the lacquer layer is to be thinner than in the other regions contains a lacquer repellent, and the printed and dried paper film is impregnated with an aqueous impregnation of a melamine resin from the unprinted side, with the formation of a one-sided excess of resin, and is dried. The printed and impregnated film is coated on the printed side with an aqueous lacquer based on melamine resins, and the lacquered film is hardened at elevated temperature without applying pressure. A laminate is produced by joining the unprinted side of the hardened film to a substrate such as chipboard.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1984Date of Patent: March 24, 1987Assignee: Letron GmbHInventors: Hans-Dieter Diesel, Hans J. Patent number: 4640740Abstract: Apparatus for removing volatile components from a liquid includes three distinct sections of a confined passageway for the liquid. The first section is for heating the liquid to a predetermined temperature at a preselected pressure such that vaporization of the volatile components is prevented. The second section of the confined passageway is a restrictive orifice forming flow path. The third section is a volatile component evaporation section. The volatile component evaporation section and the restrictive orifice forming flow path are dimensioned relative to one another and in respect of the preselected pressure and temperature of the liquid product such that the volatile components of the liquid substantially instantaneously vaporize in a flashing action as the liquid passes from the restrictive orifice forming flow path to the volatile component evaporization section.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1984Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: Blaw Knox CorporationInventors: James G.
