Abstract: A dual path kiln is provided that includes a kiln having one or more chambers and at least two lumber charge paths adapted to convey lumber through the kiln in opposite directions by means of a track having two rails in which a pusher device pushes the lumber through the kiln and comprises a variable output electric motor to effect a high degree of accurate control of the movement speed of the pusher device and the lumber it's pushing and wherein the pusher device includes a faceplate having two side walls extending from said faceplate to engage the side of the lumber in order to greatly enhance stability of the lumber while it is being transported and minimize the risk of spillage.

Abstract: A canoe is provided, which is easier to store and transport than the canoes of the prior art, still being versatile, strong and durable in regard of its primary use as a paddling boat. The invention provides a collapsible canoe, such as a kayak, comprising at least two molded hull sections and also a method of manufacturing a canoe. The canoe comprises a joint for releasable connection of a first hull section to a second hull section, wherein each hull section of the joint comprises means for mating the other hull section. Thereby the invention provides a canoe having sections that can be connected for use as a boat and separated for transport and storing. Preferably, the mating means are molded into each respective hull section.

Abstract: This invention relates to processes and intermediates for the stereoselective alkylation of carbonyl groups. The invention in particular allows the stereoselective preparation of the antidepressant drug escitalopram. It has been found that boric or boronic acid derivatives are useful bridging elements for the attachment of a chiral group to a compound containing a carbonyl group to be alkylated. The said borates and boronates are thus useful in a process for the asymmetric alkylation of a carbonyl group in a compound containing a carbonyl group and an anchor group capable of reacting with a boric or boronic acid derivative. The asymmetric alkylation can be carried out by admixing the compound containing a carbonyl group to be alkylated and the anchor group capable of reacting with a boric or boronic acid derivative with a boric or boronic acid derivative, adding a chiral alcohol, and adding an organometallic compound. After the alkylation reaction, the borate and boronate can be easily removed by hydrolysis.
