Patent number: 6289012Abstract: A method and apparatus for downloading large items packages the item as a plurality of packets and numbers each packet with an index stored in a header. For each user to whom an item is to be downloaded, a list of packets to be sent to the user is maintained. A send process loops through each user. In any given loop, one or more packets from the list is sent to the user. These packets are then marked as having been sent on that user's list. Only one download buffer for storing the download packets and only one network communications buffer for use by a network and a connectionless transport service is required to send the packets to a plurality of users on demand. Each user indicates which packets it did not receive and those packets are added back to that user's list for sending.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1998Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Assignee: Instanton CorporationInventors: Robert J. Patent number: 6216780Abstract: A coiled tubing injector includes two chains mounted for continuous, opposing rotation and aligned to grip between the continuous tubing. Behind a portion of each chain is a straight skate that presses gripper elements on the chain against the tubing as it passes between the chains. The skate includes a beam. Rollers are mounted on carriers, and the carriers slide into slots formed on the beam. A resilient pad is placed between the carriers and the beam. The gripper elements roll over the rollers as they are being pressed against the continuous tubing. Dimensional variations in gripper elements, rollers, and the roller carriers that may otherwise cause grippers to be out of alignment are accommodated by compression of the pad. Furthermore, the last roller at each end of each skate is mounted for pivoting against a spring in order to deflect as gripper elements turn into, or out of, alignment with the skate.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2000Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Assignee: Hydra Rig, Inc.Inventors: John Edward Goode, Randall Scott Graves, Timothy Scott Steffenhagen

Patent number: 6213931Abstract: The present disclosure is summarized as an improved cutting tooth for mounting on a stump cutting wheel driven by a suitable power plant. The tooth itself includes a long root to enable it to be clamped on the cutting wheel. When appropriately clamped, it is held with an extending neck terminating in a planar face. The face is constructed with an improved PDC hard surface layer. This is attached by a suitable WC-Co sintered alloy which joins the PDC layer to the tooth. This enables more certain anchoring of the PDC layer to the tooth. This enables more certain anchoring of the PDC face so that it does not break or flake during use and operation.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Dennis Tool CompanyInventors: Eric Twardowski, Gordon Collier

Patent number: 6173291Abstract: An automated method and apparatus for identifying and copying lost files from a mass data storage device of a computer when file system information (as opposed to the actual data files) stored on the mass data storage device has been corrupted or destroyed. The mass data storage device is scanned on a sector-by-sector basis in order to attempt to identify sectors containing file system data structures and file attributes. Identification is made using data signature and/or pattern matching filters. The location of, and any valid information found in, such sectors is used then to derive information useful in locating files to be copied to another storage device. For example, in a FAT, NTFS or other cluster-oriented file system, if information on the number of sectors per cluster (SPB) is not available from a boot directory, it and a cluster base (the starting sector of cluster 0) are calculated using the physical location of the beginning sectors of the directories or folders.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1997Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Assignee: PowerQuest CorporationInventor: Roy M. Patent number: 5490598Abstract: A substantially planar screen for a solid particle separator is formed from one or more layers of mesh. The one or more layers of mesh are formed into a series of ridges separated by channels within the plane of the screen. The wire mesh is bonded to a rigid or semi-rigid panel having a plurality of relatively large openings as compared to those of the mesh to create a plurality of repairable screen cells. The support panel is formed with or bent into a series of alternating ridges and channels to create the ridges and channels in the wire mesh when it is bonded to the panel. The cross-sectional shape of the ridges are generally triangular to maximize exposure of surface area of the screen to a flow of material to be separated. Flat surfaces on the ridges and in the channels facilitate repair of screen cells with solid plugs.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1994Date of Patent: February 13, 1996Assignee: Drexel Oilfield Services, Inc.Inventor: Thomas C. Patent number: 5490258Abstract: To provide for fast access times with very large key fields, an associative memory utilizes a location addressable memory and look up tables to generate from a key an address in memory storing an associated record. The look up tables, stored in a memory, are constructed with the aid of arithmetic data compression methods to create a near perfect hashing of the keys. For encoding into the look up table, keys are divided into a string of symbols. Each symbol is assigned an index value, such that a sum of index values for symbols of a particular key is a unique value that is used as an address to the memory storing the record associated with that key.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1992Date of Patent: February 6, 1996Inventor: Peter R.
