Abstract: Disclosed is the improvements in whitening apparatus for producing strongly glossy white rice without using any gloss additive. The improved apparatus wherein: friction between half-finished white rice grains which have been moistened while being supplied to a whitening chamber of the apparatus is caused by the rotation of a whitening roll axially disposed in a perforated bran-removing and whitening cylinder, said roll and said cylinder are defining therebetween said whitening chamber, whereby the surfaces of grains are fully cleaned of bran which is constantly discharged through the perforated wall of said cylinder, thereby enabling to expose hard portions of white rice grains devoid of bran. The ratio between the length and diameter of said cylinder experimentally substantiated for best results may be between 2:1 to 20:1.
Abstract: A scraper bar for use with conveyor belting and the like to clean such belting of material adhering to its surface. The scraper bar consists of a layer of hard abrasion-resistant pellets embedded in an elastomer to form an elastomer/pellet matrix. An additional layer of elastomer is cast to the matrixed layer to provide a surface for attaching the scraper to its support when in service. Embedded in the layer of unmatrixed elastomer is an insert of particle board, chipboard, plywood or fibreglass reinforced plastic sheeting. The insert prevents bowing of the scraper bar due to differential shrinkage between the layer of matrixed elastomer and pellets and the supporting layer of elastomer.

Abstract: Apparatus for molding elastomeric articles is disclosed, the apparatus including an injection unit having an open-ended chamber in which elastomeric stock is disposable and from which such stock can be expelled, a multi-cavity mold having cavities aligned with corresponding ones of the apertures of the end plate, a device for moving the injection unit and mold relative to one another to engage the mold with the end plate, and a pneumatic venting system for evacuating fluid entrapped in each of the mold cavities preparatory to filling the latter with elastomeric stock from the injection unit. The foregoing abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor is it intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.
Abstract: Disclosed is a new mechanical assembly of metal elements designed to rigidly suspend and positively anchor stone slabs to a building structure. This mechanical assembly provides an plug and stud in the stone slab which resists gravity loading and is able to receive the firm attachment of a supporting structure, without introducing bolting stresses into the stone slabs.
