Patent number: 8120706Abstract: We describe and claim a video system and method for automatic size and position adjustment according to the incoming stream. A detection module detects a size and a position of video including an aspect ratio of video on at least one channel of at least one video input source. An execution module adjusts a scale mode responsive to the detection of the size and position or aspect ratio of the video. Once the aspect ratio has been detected and the scale mode adjusted responsive to the detection, video is provided to the display of a display device. The detection and execution modules crop unintentional vertical blanking interval (VBI) lines from upconverted video signals. An on screen display includes a selection for active management that provides for automatic detection of size and position information, or a manual control mode for selection by the user.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2007Date of Patent: February 21, 2012Assignee: Pixelworks, Inc.Inventors: Anthony C. Patent number: 8110888Abstract: High voltage semiconductor devices with high-voltage termination structures are constructed on lightly doped substrates. Lightly doped p-type substrates are particularly prone to depletion and inversion from positive charges, degrading the ability of associated termination structures to block high voltages. To improve the efficiency and stability of termination structures, second termination regions of the same dopant type as the substrate, more heavily doped than the substrate but more lightly doped than first termination regions, are positioned adjoining the first termination regions. The second termination regions raise the field threshold voltage where the surface is vulnerable and render the termination structure substantially insensitive to positive charges at the surface. The use of higher dopant concentration in the gap region without causing premature avalanche is facilitated by only creating second termination regions for regions lacking field plate protection.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2008Date of Patent: February 7, 2012Assignee: Microsemi CorporationInventors: Jinshu Zhang, Dumitru Sdrulla, Dah Wen Tsang

Patent number: 8107537Abstract: A one-pass picture-layer rate control (RC) method and system for controlling a video encoder: The bit allocation and determination of quantization parameter (QP) in this rate control method and system are based on a Rate-Quantization (R-Q) scale model. The R-Q model is a linear one, wherein the number of bits per picture is in reverse ratio of quantization scale for that picture. A conversion of exponential-based QP to linear-scaled QP is taken in the calculation of complexity model and determination of QP. The conversion is integer-based and is consistent with the quantization array defined in the H.264 standard.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2006Date of Patent: January 31, 2012Assignee: Sharp Laboratories of America, Inc.Inventors: Zhi Zhou, Shijun Sun
