  • Patent number: 7973954
Abstract: Recognizing a language format of an input data stream including reading a next data sample of the input data stream in a current state, selecting a next state in response to the next data sample, transitioning to the next state and repeatedly reading the next data sample and selecting the next state until the next state is an end state, and identifying the language format in response to the current state when the next state is an end state.

  • Patent number: 7973838
Abstract: An active pixel masking system for automatic glare suppression uses a variably transmissive screen such as an LCD in front of a lens. A measurement by an image sensor of oversaturated pixels from one or more extremely bright lights is used to generate corresponding opaque pixels in the variably transmissive screen, thereby preventing the excess light from entering the lens, and thereby clarifying the appearance of any objects near to the bright light. A continuous reading of a motion picture image is used to move the location and area of the opaque pixels in response to the motion and area of the light.

  • Patent number: 7970000
Abstract: A network device communicates in a cable network. The network device has a port to allow the device to communicate on a cable network. The network device also has a processor to send a message indicating that the device is assuming a dormant state. The processor then assumes a dormant state for the device, releasing the service identifiers and service flows associated with that device for use in the cable network.

  • Patent number: 7964098
Abstract: An apparatus and method for filtering a biological sample is presented. The apparatus comprises a body member has an upper end and a lower end and defining a workspace therewithin. A first attachment portion is integrally joined to the lower end of the body member for interlockingly receiving a filtered sample container. A second attachment portion is integrally joined to the upper end of the body member for interlockingly receiving a sample transport container. A substantially conically-shaped filter member, located within the workspace, is integrally joined to the lower end of the body member and extends upwardly above the lower end of the body member toward the upper end of the body member. The filter member defines a plurality of openings in its upwardly extending portion.

  • Patent number: 7966419
Abstract: A method of managing traffic in an ad hoc network determines local data traffic levels at a node, and uses the local data traffic levels to define a criteria. The criteria is applied to a microutility associated with the data sample to determine if the data sample should be propagated, temporarily delayed or dropped.

  • Patent number: 7961736
Abstract: A method of converting application data to transport data in a power line communication system includes receiving application data from an application in a device through a service access point. The connection type and connection specification for the application data is then analyzed to determine if a connection exists for the application data. If a connection exists for the application data, mapping the application data is mapped into transport data.

  • Patent number: 7956455
Abstract: An RF power transistor package with a rectangular ceramic base can house one or more dies affixed to an upper surface of the ceramic base. Source leads attached to the ceramic base extend from at least opposite sides of the rectangular base beneath a periphery of a non-conductive cover overlying the ceramic base. The cover includes recesses arranged to receive the one or more die, the ceramic base, gate and drain leads and a portion of the source leads. The cover further includes bolt holes arranged to clamp the ceramic base and source leads to a heat sink. Bosses at corners of the cover outward of the bolt holes exert a downward bowing force along the periphery of the cover between the bolt holes.

  • Patent number: 7957305
Abstract: A hierarchical cable modem clone detection system: A cable modem clone detection system uses a cable modem media access control (MAC) address and physical location information such as information relating to a cable interface, upstream and downstream port numbers, fiber node information, and load balancing group descriptors to determine if a cable modem is a clone. The hierarchical approach first make a clone determination at a cable modem termination system, then at a regional operations center and finally at a network operations center.

  • Patent number: 7952416
Abstract: The intercept of a logarithmic amplifier is temperature stabilized by generating a signal having the form H log H where H is a function of temperature such as T/T0. The first H factor is cancelled, thereby generating a correction signal having the form Y log H. The cancellation may be implemented with a transconductance cell having a hyperbolic tangent function. The H log H function may be generated by a pair of junctions biased by one temperature-stable current and one temperature-dependent current. The pair of junctions and the transconductance cell may be coupled together in a translinear loop. A user-accessible terminal may allow adjustment of the correction signal for different operating frequencies.

  • Patent number: 7949682
Abstract: A set of flat identifiers are received, and a locality of reference cue determined. A cache is searched to locate an association including the combination of the set of flat identifiers and the locality of reference cue. If such an association is found in the cache, the hierarchical object(s) associated with that combination are used first in attempting to map the set of flat identifiers onto a hierarchical namespace.
