Abstract: Processes are disclosed for oxygen-tailoring polyethylene resin. Polyethylene resin is conveyed through a feed zone, a melt-mixing zone and a melt zone. The resin is contacted with oxygen in an amount of at least 40 parts by weight O2 per million parts by weight resin, and contacted with primary antioxidant downstream of the point or points of oxygen contact. The oxygen-treated resin can be used to make polyethylene film having improved gauge uniformity.

Abstract: A polymerization process and polymerization reactor are provided. For example, a polymerization process is described, including passing a feed stream including liquid and gas through a feed stream inlet disposed proximate an upflow polymerization reactor, passing the feed stream through a member configured to impart an angular velocity to the feed stream and entrain the liquid in the gas, and contacting the feed stream with a catalyst to polymerize the feed stream.
Abstract: A method of preparing an ester of a carboxylic acid functionalized with a moiety selected from the group consisting of halides, sulfonates, ethers, hydroxyl, amines, and aldehydes, said method comprising: (a) providing either a carboxylic acid having a vinyl group or an ester thereof; (b) functionalizing the vinyl carbon closest to the carboxyl group with said moiety, wherein said functionalizing comprises cleaving said vinyl group.

Abstract: Process for the production of alkoxycarbonyldipeptides intermediates in the synthesis of the lisinopril which comprises protecting both amino functions of the L-lysine with an alkoxycarbonyl group, subsequently making the N-carboxyanhydride of the N6-[alkoxycarbonyl]-L-lysine by treatment with thionyl chloride and making the desired alkoxycarbonyldipeptide by reaction with L-proline in alkaline medium.
