  • Patent number: 5845445
Abstract: An insulated concrete form for forming an insulated poured concrete wall, having an inside surface and an outside surface. The outside surface is held in a spaced-apart parallel relationship with the inside surface by a plurality of tie members attached perpendicularly to both the inside and outside surfaces. The inside surface is a single-sided conventional concrete formwork comprising a plurality of plywood boards having each a plurality of latch members for respectively engaging with a first end of each of the tie members. The outside surface comprises a plurality of juxtaposed insulating foam panels and a plurality of elongated vertically aligned connecting members, having each an I-shaped portion respectively enclosing two adjacent edges of a bordering pair of the juxtaposed insulating panels.

  • Patent number: 5829605
Abstract: In the present invention, there is provided a mobile crane for hoisting movable articles and for being towed to and from an article hoisting site behind a pickup truck having a hitch attachment. The mobile crane comprises a frame having a front end, a rear end, a pair of front wheels and a pair of rear wheels. The mobile crane also has a mast extending vertically from the frame and a boom support bracket affixed to the mast. A telescopic boom having a far end and a near end is movably cantilevered in the boom support bracket. A tow bar is removably connected to the far end of the boom. The tow bar has a hook-up member mounted thereon and is connectable to the hitch attachment of the pickup truck. A double-acting hydraulic cylinder is connected between the boom support bracket and the boom for raising the front wheels off the ground when the hook-up member is connected to the hitch attachment.

  • Patent number: 5813122
Abstract: The vegetation control material applicator comprises a toroidal reservoir for containing a nominal amount of vegetation control material in fluid form and a circular valve assembly mounted between the reservoir and the circular saw blade of a brush saw. The reservoir and the valve assembly are mountable on the arbour of the brush saw with the valve assembly being in contact with the underside surface of the saw blade. The reservoir and valve assembly each have a diameter which is substantially less than the diameter of the saw blade. The reservoir has an opened side which is in communication with the valve assembly. The valve assembly comprises a valve disc and a valve seat. The valve disc is made of a material having the ability to resonate and to sustain a vibration therein. The valve seat is made of a material having vibration dampening properties.

  • Patent number: 5791034
Abstract: A casing for sign comprising a backing sheet and side members having each a lip along an edge of the backing sheet. The sign casing further comprises a crimp or a plurality of crimps in the lip of each side member and into the backing sheet for retaining the backing sheet to the side members. The lip of each side member is adjacent a first side of the backing sheet, and a lateral portion of each side member is adjacent a second side of the backing sheet. The lip and the lateral portion of each side member form a slot enclosing an edge of the backing sheet. The lateral portion of the side member further has a groove facing the lip, for receiving a swollen portion of the crimp. The casing is manufactured on a production table having a central top surface, a first side surface and a second side surface.

  • Patent number: 5779991
Abstract: An apparatus having a first and second zones, for destroying hazardous compounds of a first and second types respectively present in a gas stream. The first zone has a first live electrode and a ground electrode. The first live electrode and the ground electrode define a first gas passage. These electrodes are excitable at a first energy level for generating a first electric field capable of generating a plasma in a gas flowing through the first gas passage. The second zone has a second live electrode spaced apart from the ground electrode. The second live electrode defines with the ground electrode a second gas passage communication with a downstream end of the first gas passage. The second live electrode is excitable at a second energy level for generating with the ground electrode a second electric field capable of sustaining the plasma in the gas flowing through the second gas passage.

  • Patent number: 5768754
Abstract: A fabric fastening kit for fastening a piece of fabric to a rigid structure. The fabric fastening kit is comprised of a strip of netting material having a nominal width and a plurality of opened meshes, and a longitudinal pronged element having a nominal thickness, a surface, a backside, a foreside, and a plurality of juxtaposed prongs defined within that planar surface. Each prong has a narrow tip, a wide base and a length between the tip and the base being at least equivalent to the width of the base of one prong. The pronged element is attachable to a rigid structure. The strip of netting material is attachable to the pronged element and is also attachable to the margin of the piece of fabric to be fastened to the rigid structure.

  • Patent number: 5765330
Abstract: A pre-insulated prefab wall panel comprising of a rectangular wall frame having top and bottom rail members and a plurality of spaced apart stud members aligned between the top and bottom rail members. A polystyrene boardstock is affixed to a first side of the rectangular wall frame, thereby defining with the top and bottom rail members and the plurality of stud members a plurality of rectangular cavities, wherein each cavity has a depth of the thickness of a stud member. The prefab wall panel further has a layer of foamed-in-place polyurethane covering a portion of each cavity adjoining the boardstock, and bonding the structural wall frame to the polystyrene boardstock. The layer of polyurethane foam has a thickness which is substantially less than the depth of each cavity, whereby each cavity has available space for accommodating sub-trade installations.

  • Patent number: 5743678
Abstract: An anchor eye-bolt for use in strengthening a mine roof as well as for supporting mine installation below the roof. The anchor eye-bolt of the present invention comprises broadly an elongated stem having on a first end thereof a threaded portion for engaging into an expansion-type anchor shell, and a polygonal bolt head forming a second end thereof. The polygonal bolt head comprises a circular pressure bearing surface on a first side thereof adjoining the stem, and an eyed projection extending from a top surface thereof. The circular pressure bearing surface preferably has a diameter as large as an across-corner dimension of the polygonal bolt head. The eyed projection preferably has a width similar to an across-flat dimension of the polygonal bolt head. A thickness of the eyed projection is preferably substantially a same dimension as a diameter of the stem. In another aspect of the anchor eye-bolt of the present invention, there is provided a tension washer used in combination with that anchor eye-bolt.
