  • Patent number: 8015827
Abstract: In an air mixing arrangement wherein a primary fluid is introduced through an opening in a wall to be mixed with a secondary fluid flowing along the wall surface, the opening is airfoil shaped with its leading edge being orientated at an attack angle with respect to the secondary fluid flow stream so as to thereby enhance the penetration and dispersion of the primary fluid stream into the secondary fluid stream. The airfoil shaped opening is selectively positioned such that its angle of attack provides the desired lift to optimize the mixing of the two streams for the particular application. In one embodiment, a collar is provided around the opening to prevent the secondary fluid from contacting the surface of the wall during certain conditions of operation. Multiple openings maybe used such as the combination of a larger airfoil shaped opening with a smaller airfoil shaped opened positioned downstream thereof, or a round shaped opening placed upstream of an airfoil shaped opening.

  • Patent number: 7984855
Abstract: A TTR time of a reading apparatus can also be reduced by designing an apparatus to exhibit a certain timing relationship between a receipt of a trigger signal and/or more of image capture and decoding. An apparatus in one embodiment can be configured to continuously capture frames of image data prior to receipt of a trigger signal and can further be configured so that an output decoded message is decoded from a frame of image data having a capture initiation time of prior to the time of receipt of a trigger signal. An apparatus configured to output a decoded message from a frame of image data having a capture initiation time of prior to a time of receipt of a trigger signal can have a TTR time of less than a frame capture period of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7967061
Abstract: A heat exchanger includes a plurality of multi-channel heat exchange tubes extending between spaced inlet and outlet headers. Each heat exchange tube has a plurality of flow channels defining discrete flow paths extending longitudinally in parallel relationship from its inlet end to its outlet end. The inlet header has a channel for receiving a two-phase fluid from a fluid circuit and a chamber for collecting the fluid. The chamber has an inlet in flow communication with the channel and an outlet in flow communication with the plurality of fluid flow paths of the heat exchange tubes. The channel defines a relatively high turbulence flow passage that induces uniform mixing of the liquid phase refrigerant and the vapor phase fluid and reduces potential stratification of the vapor phase and the liquid phase within the fluid passing through the header.

  • Patent number: 7951327
Abstract: A photocatalytic air purifier is disclosed. The photocatalytic purifier includes filter structures coated with a catalytic material such as titanium dioxide. One or more UV lamps are interposed between the filter structures. The catalytic layer reacts with airborne VOCs and bioaerosols when activated by the UV lamps to thereby oxidize the VOCs and destroy the bioaerosols. The photocatalytic air purifier does not need to be replaced or regenerated after a period of continuous usage. The photocatalytic purifier of the present invention substantially eliminates odors, VOCs, and bioaerosols from air directed through the fan coil. The photocatalytic air purifier includes a control system that optimizes operating costs. Because of these features, service, maintenance, and filter replacement are reduced to a minimum. At the same time, the well being of persons living in the space conditioned by the photocatalytic air purifier is improved.

  • Patent number: 7937962
Abstract: A refrigerated transport system includes a prioritizing algorithm to limit the maximum amount of refrigerant flow available to at least one limited cooling compartment by holding a delta T (difference between the supply air temperature and return air temperature) instead of a setpoint temperature in the at least one limited cooling compartment when the available cooling capacity is insufficient to hold a substantially constant temperature in all compartments. A method for creating multiple refrigerated compartment spaces having precision temperature control includes the steps of: prioritizing the compartments by identifying at least one priority compartment to be held at a setpoint temperature; and limiting refrigerant flow to all but the priority compartment when there is insufficient cooling capacity to maintain all compartments at their respective setpoint temperatures.

  • Patent number: 7935559
Abstract: This method for producing a non-planar microelectronic component, especially a concave component, involves superposing a layer that contains an active flexible circuit above a cavity shaped according to the desired profile of said component, said cavity being formed in substrate; and applying a pressure difference either side of said layer thereby causing slumping of the flexible circuit into the cavity therefore causing the circuit to assume the shape of the cavity. Superposition of the flexible circuit and the cavity is realized by filling the cavity with a material capable of being selectively removed relative to the substrate and the flexible circuit; then fitting or forming the flexible circuit on the cavity thus filled; then forming at least one feedthrough to access the filled cavity; and by selectively etching the material that fills the cavity via at least one feedthrough in order to remove said material.
