  • Patent number: 6295684
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for the cleaning of solubly marked laminated sheets. A laminated sheet is fed over a cleaning surface along which are disposed a plurality of solvent-carrying wipers. The solvent-carrying wipers will wipe the markings from the sheet and the sheet feeder will then deposit the wiped sheet at the other end of the apparatus. Drying means could wipe excess solvent from the sheet following its passage over the wipers. The device will be of particular assistance in the gaming industry, where reusable gaming cards might be substituted for disposable paper cards currently employed for substantial economic savings.

  • Patent number: 6295776
Abstract: A corner bead is of the tape-on type, having an elongated metal core strip with a longitudinal arcuate nose and a pair of flanges extending outwardly from the nose at approximately a right angle. A cover strip of paper is bonded to the exterior surface of the core strip, and includes wings which project outwardly beyond the extent of the flanges. The cover strip is formed of a stock paper having high abrasion resistance, tensile strength, and which is dimensionally stable on contact with wet joint compound. The surface of the cover strip is abraded to partially loosen the surface fibers, which will increase the bond strength of the comer bead when installed on wallboard. The method of manufacturing a tape-on corner bead includes the steps of conditioning a strip of stock paper by abrading the surfaces of the paper, and then bonding the paper strip to an outward face of an elongated core.

  • Patent number: 6293042
Abstract: Decoy wings include a connector with a central hub and arms projecting forwardly, rearwardly, and out the opposing sides thereof. The connector is removably connected to a decoy body with a pair of elastic bands encircling the body and engaging the forward and rearward arms of the connector. Each decoy wing includes a frame member with a hook portion on the inward end which will engage a hook-shaped channel formed in the bottom of the connector hub and side arms. A flexible fabric sheet is connected to each frame member to provide an animated appearance to the decoy.

  • Patent number: 6290192
Abstract: An adjustable receiver tube includes an elongated tube having a flat resilient strap extending within the tube from the upper end of the cylindrical side wall. A flange at the bottom of the tube will support an IV pole within the tube, and a threaded shaft threaded through an aperture in the side of the tube will move the strip into engagement with an IV pole to hold the pole snugly within the receiver tube. A cushion is preferably mounted in the tube on the flange, to frictionally engage the lower end of the IV pole and prevent rotation, horizontal movement, and prevent damage to the lower end of the IV pole.

  • Patent number: 6272749
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a concrete deck form panel includes the initial step of cutting an insert within the panel, which may be removed by sliding the insert longitudinally from the panel. A pair of structural members are attached to the longitudinal sides of the insert, and then the insert is returned to the original position within the panel. A series of panels are connected to form a floor for supporting concrete, thereby forming a concrete deck system. In a second embodiment of the invention each form panel is formed by attaching a pair of structural members to longitudinal sides of a central body and then attaching L-shaped members to the structural members. A top plate is mounted to the top of the L-shaped members and the central body to form the integrated form panel.

  • Patent number: 6256962
Abstract: A tie for interconnecting a pair of parallel form panels includes an elongated strap with an end plate pivotally connected at each end of the strap, permitting the end plate to be pivoted from a position generally orthogonal to the strap to a position generally parallel to the strap. Once an end plate is pivoted to a position parallel to the strap, the end plate is pushed through a polystyrene form panel to project therefrom. The end plate is then pivoted to a position orthogonal to the strap, and pulled into engagement with the outer face of the form panel. The second end plate is pivoted, pushed through a second form panel, and pivoted to the orthogonal position, in the same manner. Concrete is then poured between the panels and allowed to harden. After the concrete is cured, a form panel may be removed by striking the end plate with a rubber mallet in a direction aligned with the longitudinal axis of the strap.

Once an end plate is pivoted to a position parallel to the strap, the end plate can be pushed through a polystyrene form panel to project therefrom. The end plate is then pivoted to the position orthogonal to the strap, and pulled into engagement with the outward face of the form panel. The second end plate on the tie is pivoted, pushed through a second form panel, pivoted to the orthogonal position, and thence the second form panel is pulled outwardly into contact with the second end plate. In this way, the tie will interconnect a pair of parallel form panels in spaced apart position, to receive poured concrete therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6224154
Abstract: An operable chair includes a seat which is pivotally connected to a support arm, the support arm being operably mounted on an upright frame for selective vertical movement along the frame. The seat is mounted for selective and adjustable tilting so that an operator may lean forward from the chair at a desired angle. A footrest is operably mounted to the upright support for selective vertical movement there along, independent of the seat. The footrest includes a foot platform which is selectively pivotable as well. A body restraining harness is provided for an operator seated in the seat, and includes an adjustable length cable connected to a bracket operably mounted on the upright support, to adjustably restrain the upper torso of a person seated in the seat, with the upper torso leaning forwardly over a desired work site.

  • Patent number: 6209869
Abstract: A roulette game includes a conventional roulette wheel modified to include a plurality of tracks, to receive the simultaneous play of a plurality of balls. A plurality of independent tables are then provided extending from the roulette wheel, each table associated with one of the plurality of balls on the wheel. Each table includes one playing field for placing bets on a single ball of the plurality, and a second playing field for placing bets relative to the plurality of balls. In the method of playing the roulette game, a player places a bet as to the pocket or pockets on the wheel in which the plurality of balls will be located at the outcome of a spin. The roulette wheel is then rotated in a first direction, and a plurality of balls are propelled in the opposite direction along tracks in the roulette wheel. The pockets in which each of the balls falls during a spin is identified, and winning and losing bets are then determined.

  • Patent number: 6183608
Abstract: The electrode positioning mechanism includes a reversible electric motor. The motor rotates a worm gear which drives a spur gear. The spur gear is connected to an internally threaded collar which is adapted to receive an externally threaded sleeve. The sleeve can move axially lengthwise with respect to the collar. The sleeve acts as a housing for the electrode. Means are provided to retain the sleeve within the collar such that mechanical movement is restricted. The restriction in mechanical movement causes the torque applied by the worm gear to increase. The worm gear is allowed to move axially along the length of the motor shaft. The worm gear is biased into a longitudinally central position by at least one spring. As torque increases, the worm gear is moved from its central position against the urging of the spring. The worm gear is also connected to a washer with a diameter greater than that of the worm gear.

  • Patent number: 6176541
Abstract: A truck bed cover includes a pair of channels, each channel having an inwardly directed and outwardly directed receiving channel there along, slidably engaged on inwardly directed flanges of the side panels of the truck bed. At least one cover panel is then slid forwardly between the inwardly directed receiving channels of the channels on the flanges to cover the truck bed. A connector member which extends between the channels is utilized to interconnect cover panels on the truck bed. In trucks having a trapezoidal shaped bed, the channels have openings formed in upper portions of the forward ends thereof, and trapezoidal shaped cover panels are dropped through the opening and then slid rearwardly into engagement with a connector on the rearward most panel.

  • Patent number: 6177050
Abstract: A container positioning device includes a stop mechanism for stopping a carrier moving along a conveyor, the carrier supporting a container thereon. A pair of arms are pivotally mounted to move between an open position permitting the container to pass along the conveyor track, and a centering position with forward ends in contact with the container and positioning the container in a centering location. A forward end of the downstream arm is operable to move upstream and contact the container to move the container upstream to the centering location, where the second arm will contact the container to retain it in place.
