  • Patent number: 8108438
Abstract: A dictionary at least partially spans a set of discrete q-length signals. The atoms of the dictionary are eigenvectors of a representation of a commutative subgroup of a finite symplectic group. The dictionary may be used for interpreting a radar signal, denoising a signal, compressing data, finding a sparse representation, deblurring at a signal finding a sparse representation of a signal, encoding a signal for communication, encoding a symbol for CDMF communication, classifying a data set and generating a random number.

  • Patent number: 8019754
Abstract: A method of locating relevant documents wherein documents are given a fingerprint comprising weights associated with particular topic categories of a classification system, each weight representing a degree to which the document relates to the particular topic category, a first piece of text is identified and given a fingerprint comprising a list of other weights associated with similar topic categories, the other weights representing a degree to which the first piece of text relates to the particular topic category. All or a portion of the universe of documents is searched by comparing the fingerprint for the first piece of text with the fingerprint for each document. You select those documents whose fingerprints have a predetermined degree of mathematical overlap with the fingerprint of the first piece of text. A user fingerprint of the user's recently accessed texts can be used in place of the first piece of text.

  • Patent number: 8004405
Abstract: It is provided an alarm system for underground boundary intrusion detection, and methods for deployment and operation. The deployment method includes constructing of a computing-and-empowering apparatus, connecting thereof a longitudinally extended power-and-communication cable, connecting addressable junction-units, storing a physical location and an address of each junction-unit in the computing-and-empowering apparatus, connecting each addressable junction-unit to a wired-mole having a wire bundle which initially is contracted there within and measurable physical characteristics, and infiltrating the wired-moles normally into ground to a desired depth. In operation, the sensors frequently measure the physical characteristics of the wired-mole, deliver the measurement of the physical characteristics to the computing-and-empowering apparatus, which stores and analyzes the measurements, comparing past and present measurements.

  • Patent number: 7998119
Abstract: A system and method for delivering fluid into a flexible biological barrier employs a microneedle structure wherein a final position of microneedles inserted into the biological barrier is generally sideways projecting from the delivery configuration instead of the conventional downwards projecting arrangement. The microneedles project from a relief surface which is distinct from a primary biological-barrier contact region of the delivery configuration, and is typically angled upwards away from the biological barrier. During insertion, the contact region is brought into contact with the biological barrier and moved parallel to the surface of the flexible biological barrier so as to generate a boundary between a stretched portion and a non-stretched portion of the barrier.

  • Patent number: 7624605
Abstract: A combined bicycle pedal and lock and a method for its use, which is an integral part of a bicycle and serves both as an ordinary bicycle pedal and as a means of locking the bicycle to an object which is not a part of the bicycle. The combined bicycle pedal and lock includes a pedal shaft, several main components, which carry the majority of the load applied to the pedal when riding the bicycle, a complementary locking assembly, which has two modes, a folded mode when the combined bicycle pedal and lock is serving as a pedal, and mode that can be extended when the combined bicycle pedal and lock is serving to lock the bicycle to a suitable object, as well as a short pedal shaft, and a locking mechanism which is operated by means of a key, combination wheel, or any other suitable means.

  • Patent number: 7286067
Abstract: An appliance includes a physical interface for communication according to a broad protocol and two functional components. The first functional component communicates via the physical interface. The second functional component includes a functional module adapted to communicate according to a narrow protocol and an emulation module that transforms between the two protocols so that the two functional components can communicate with each other using the physical interface.

  • Patent number: 6164878
Abstract: A cutting insert has an upper surface bounded by a cutting edge, a base, and a peripheral flank surface. The shape of the peripheral flank surface varies along the height of the cutting insert. Near the top of the peripheral flank surface, it conforms to the round or polygonal geometry of the cutting edge so as to provide support for the cutting edge. Lower down the cutting insert, the peripheral flank surface is shaped to provide transverse bearing surfaces which have considerably lower pressure angles, i.e., resistance to turning moments, than would be provided by the inherent geometry of the cutting edge. Preferably, these transverse bearing surfaces are formed by recessed features such as channels, and most preferably, as chevron-type channels. This latter possibility leads to a lower cross-sectional geometry which approximates to an n-pointed star.

  • Patent number: 5884982
Abstract: A wheel assembly for use with carts employs a sleeve element as an intermediate member between a central axle and both the wheel and the cart body. The sleeve element has an inner recess shaped to receive an end portion of the axle and a first external surface for rotatably engaging within a hole in the cart such that a part of the sleeve element functions as a bearing disposed between the axle and the hole. The sleeve element also has a resilient catch element for retaining it within the hole such that the axle is prevented from moving longitudinally while being free to rotate relative to the cart body. The sleeve element also provides a substantially cylindrical external surface for rotatable mounting of the wheel.
