Patent number: 5050759Abstract: A combination drinking cup and lid for liquid. A cup has a continuous, substantially cylindrical wall and a substantially circular opening at a longitudinal end of the cylindrical wall. A removable lid for closure of the opening has an edge mating with the circular opening of the cup. A spout is located near the circumferential edge of the lid and a weight is located near the circumferential edge radially opposed from the spout. When the cylindrical wall rests on a surface, the force of gravity will radially rotate the cup and the lid so that the weight will rotate towards the surface and the spout will rotate away from the surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1990Date of Patent: September 24, 1991Inventor: Alan D. Marble

Patent number: 5022388Abstract: A patient table apparatus having a pad for supporting a patient with at least two sections, a lower body section which will tilt with respect to an upper body section about an axis transverse to the pad. The apparatus includes a spring mechanism to impart an upward force on the lower body section against the force of gravity on the patient. A motor extends or retracts the spring mechanism and controls for the motor are provided whereby the amount of upward force on the lower body section may be increased or decreased.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1989Date of Patent: June 11, 1991Assignee: Health Care Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: Robert T. Harter

Patent number: 5004005Abstract: A combination valve formed of a valve body having a flow passageway therethrough and an opening in the top communicating with the passageway. A rotating member is received in the body, within the flow passageway, the rotating member having a flow passageway therethrough which is alignable with the passageway in the body and having a top opening therein communicating with the passageway through the rotating member. A checking mechanism is supported within the rotating member and moveable from a closed position blocking the passageway therethrough to an open position. A bonnet removably closes the body top opening.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1990Date of Patent: April 2, 1991Inventor: John G. Graves

Patent number: 4928615Abstract: A cover for a hatch which will engage with a rim to produce a water tight seal. The hatch cover includes a plate capable of seating in the rim and a shaft extending vertically through an aperture in the plate and slidably received therein. A handle is located on one side of the plate, one end of the handle pivotally connected to the shaft so that the handle will move from a closed position parallel to the plate to an open position substantially perpendicular to the plate. The handle imparts vertical movement to the shaft with respect to the plate. Arm assemblies extend radially outward from the shaft on the side of the plate opposite the handle, whereby movement of the handle imparts movement to the arm assemblies thereby extending the arm assemblies to engage the rim.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1989Date of Patent: May 29, 1990Inventor: John E. Williams

Patent number: 4862841Abstract: A system of generating power in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine. Each cylinder has a reciprocating piston passing in sequence through an intake stroke, a compression stroke, a power stroke and an exhaust stroke. A charge is drawn from an intake manifold through an intake valve and into a cylinder during the intake stroke. Greater than half of a volume of the cylinder is displaced, thereby returning a substantial portion of the charge to the intake manifold through the intake valve during the compression stroke at all operating speeds. The remaining charge in the cylinder is compressed during the compression stroke after closing the intake valve. The charge is ignited to expand the charge and liberate energy during the power stroke. The cylinder is exhausted of burned charge during the exhaust stroke. The quantitative expansion of the charge during the power stroke is at least twice the quantitative compression of the charge during the compression stroke.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1988Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Inventor: John C. Stevenson

Patent number: 4848955Abstract: An anti-theft collar device for an automobile or other vehicle having a cylindrical steering wheel and an extending shift lever. A resilient, arcuate band includes a first end having a member extending therefrom curled radially inward to form a first end slot, a second end, an opening spaced from the first end, and an aperture to accommodate the shift lever therethrough. A tongue extends circumferentially from the second end and is adapted to be inserted through the opening in the band. The tongue terminates in a member curled radially inward to form a second end slot parallel and opposed to the first end slot. A wedge has a pair of opposed edges that may be slidably received in the slots and a wedge lock prevents removal of the wedge from the slots. The arcuate band may be formed around the cylindrical steering wheel column, the tongue may be inserted through the opening in the band to form a pair of parallel, opposed slots.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1987Date of Patent: July 18, 1989Inventor: Ed W. Lowe, Jr.

Patent number: 4846458Abstract: An upper body exercise apparatus to assist an exerciser to do chin-ups and dips. The apparatus includes a frame having a base, a platform parallel to the base for the exerciser to stand on, chin-up handles and dip handles extending from the frame, a system to oscillate the platform vertically between a lower position and an upper position while maintaining the platform parallel to the base and while avoiding any angular displacement, a pneumatic cylinder for providing a force to the oscillating system which is opposite the weight of the exerciser, and a control and monitor whereby the force is controlled and the oscillation of the platform is monitored.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1987Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: Tri-Tech, Inc.Inventor: Lanny L. Potts

Patent number: 4828119Abstract: A self-leveling tray or ice dispenser including a pair of opposed inner walls within a cavity, each wall having at least one post protruding inwardly into the cavity. A pair of removable shells is provided, each shell having a pair of opposed longitudinal tracks and an upper hanger near one end of the opposed tracks. At least one slot extends through each shell. A roller mechanism engages the opposed tracks on each shell. A pair of shelves is provided, one shelf extending into the cavity from each roller mechanism, the shelves being adapted to support ice or trays. Springs extend between the upper hanger and the roller mechanisms. One cover is slidably removable from each shell. The shells may be detachably connected to the inner walls by mating the post protruding from the wall with the slot. The shells may be attached and removed from the inner walls without use of tools for periodic cleaning and inspections.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1988Date of Patent: May 9, 1989Assignee: Jero Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: John R. Pingelton
