Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a toe piece for holding a ski-boot in a safety ski-binding, which toe piece is pivotable against a biasing force when excessive side forces occur. The toe piece includes a base plate, a housing mountable to the base plate and a pair of elongated, generally parallel side members, each pivotally mounted at one end of the base plate. A coupling member pivotally connects the other ends of the side members to each other to form a linkage. The linkage is laterally movable relative to the base plate about the pivotally mounted ends of the side members. A detent assembly operable against a biasing force is provided for centering the linkage. The toe piece also includes a pair of side boot holders pivotally connected to the coupling member. A lever centrally located relative to the side boot holders has end portions in operative engagement with the side boot holder.
Abstract: A pressure regulator including high and low pressure chambers separated by a divider having an opening, a closing member biassed to a closing position for closing the opening with a biassing force according to a desired pressure differential between the chambers, and a damping device for damping the resulting force on the closing member. There is also disclosed a fluid drainage system having a suction chamber with a suction regulator, and various arrangements of diaphragms for measuring pressure differentials. An anti-spill device for the draining system is disclosed as well.

Abstract: A depository for receiving under conditions of security bank transaction deposits in envelopes of carying thicknesses one at a time, wherein the envelopes may contain coin in different sizes and numbers. The depository has a transport mechanism including a fixed upper platen, an endless belt having a lower flight movable below and supported by the fixed upper platen, and a lower platen movable with respect to the fixed upper platen at an angle downward from the belt and in the direction of belt travel when the belt is driven. An envelope being conveyed is pinched between the belt and a narrow longitudinal central ribbed plastic rail projecting upward from the movable lower platen. The plastic rail ribs have slippery low friction surfaces and the belt engages a low friction slippery surface portion of the fixed upper platen.
Abstract: Apparatus for identifying and indicating the content of document canisters such as those used to hold supplies of documents in Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), includes a canister (10) holding a stack of documents (30) and having a face plate (24). Face plate (24) includes a plurality of buttonholes (26). Spring loaded buttons (25) are distributed among buttonholes (26); the arrangement of said buttons representing items of data such as ownership of the canister, canister serial number, and document information such as the type, denomination, amount, and character of the documents in the canister. In operating position, canister (10) is located in an ATM in contact with a picker mechanism (100) which removes documents, one at a time from the canister. The picker mechanism incorporates a switch plate (126) which is adjacent to face plate (24) when canister (10) and picker mechanism (100) are in operating position.

Abstract: Exercise apparatus including an arm pivotally mounted on a base, a fluid actuator carried by the arm and having a piston drive by an arm also pivotally mounted on the base, and a member for rotating the arm to move the piston against force resulting from fluid pressure applied to the piston.
Abstract: A method for the solubilization and recovery of insoluble parasite protective antigenic factors associated with parasite material comprising solubilizing the antigenic factors with a non-ionic detergent and separating the solubilized material from undispersed residual material. The purified protective antigenic factors are useful as vaccines, particularly against malaria, and as diagnostic agents.
Abstract: A system for processing analog electrical input signals to produce output signals having frequencies determined by electrical adapting signals, in which the adapting signals may depend upon characteristics of the input signals.
Abstract: A control unit for a spa or hot tub system is disclosed. The control unit is safe and protects the user from electric shock when operating the various spa equipment. Also, the unit allows the control and operation of all the spa equipment from a single location. In one embodiment of the invention, a specific air pressure transmitter has been designed to actuate remote air switches of different spa or hot tub equipment.
Abstract: A fast opening, high security combination lock includes a case, a dial connected to a rotatable spindle, and a plurality of rotatable tumblers mounted coaxially therewith. A movable impeller mounted on said spindle is carried by internal projections in the case to engage the tumblers in sequence as the dial is turned through a series of partial clockwise turns to combination characters and returns to a set mark. After setting the tumblers, the impeller engages a driver which, if all of the tumblers have been properly set, retracts a bolt. The impeller is reset to its initial position on the spindle and the tumblers are scattered to secure the lock, by rotating the dial one-half turn anti-clockwise.
Abstract: A lightweight, snap together filter is provided for use under high stress environmental conditions. The casing and cover of the filter may be molded from high strength plastics and has been designed to snap together by a snap lock mechanism to secure a subtantially pressure tight filter assembly. The filter assembly may be utilized in an aircraft and other vehicles that may be exposed to extreme environmental conditions. The filter is designed to withstand a wide range of temperatures.

Abstract: Nucleotide analogs, modified by the attachment at hydrogen bonding positions of linker groups, that is, the 6-position of adenine, 4-position of cytosine, and 2-position of guanine, are prepared. Such analogs, alone or with reporter groups attached, may be incorporated into DNA probes which effectively hybridize to target DNA.
