  • Patent number: 6719687
Abstract: A vaginal speculum of the kind including a tubular probe (6) for penetrating the vagina wherein the probe is encircled by an annular sealing element (13), in the form of a thick walled, domed shell of polyethylene foam, spaced from the leading end of the probe and which seals only against a circumferential zone of the internal tissue defining the vaginal orifice. The external surface of the sealing element is shaped as a surface of revolution wherein the diameter of the sealing surface increases progressively with axial distance from the leading end of the sealing element and wherein the rate of increase diminishes progressively with said axial distance. The seal therefore provides a low-pressure seal over a limited range of depths of penetration of the probe into the vagina and over a range of angular alignments of the probe.

  • Patent number: 6668896
Abstract: A device for applying labels includes a roller that carries a tape that includes plural labels that run along a guide-wedge that produces a change in direction that produces the detachment of the labels. A head is connected to a suction circuit and to a blower device, whose operation are governed by a pneumatic distributor, so that when the label is detached from the tape, suction is produced so that the label is retained at the head. The label then is blown to project it energetically over the surface of a product on which it is adhered by the action of the impulsion. The head has a homogeneously multiperforated surface that facilitates the homogenous impulsion of the label.

  • Patent number: 6622933
Abstract: A lawn sprinkler system utilizes a master controller whose input is coupled to a water supply and whose output is coupled via pipe to a number of valves. The master controller is preprogrammed to supply water for a number of phases of operation, where the operation advances to a subsequent phase upon turning the supply of water off for a relatively short amount of time followed by turning the supply of water back on. Each of the valves includes an in-port and an out-port, where each valve cycles through each of the phases as controlled by the master controller. Each valve is setable/changeable to supply water to its respective out-port during a selected phase of operation.

  • Patent number: RE38172
Abstract: A grand piano having a lower lid attached thereto by hinges, and a lid designed for attachment to the bottom of a grand piano. The lid completely covers the bottom of the piano case when latched in a closed position. In its closed position, the lower lid protects the soundboard from damage (such as during transportation of the piano) and mutes the piano's sound. The lower lid of the invention is designed so that, when released from its closed position and pivoted downward into an open position, it will reflect sound from the soundboard outward from the front of the piano. Preferably, the angular orientation of the lower lid in its open position is chosen to reinforce and focus the projection of sound within a desired frequency range (for example, midrange sounds) to a desired target region. Such optimal angular orientation can be determined experimentally.
