  • Patent number: 5438225
Abstract: A combination shut-down trigger and annunciator may be advantageously powered by a photoelectric power supply. The shut down trigger and annunciator can include a fault detection unit responsive to a plurality of fault condition sensor inputs. A fault condition identification storage element is connected to the fault detection unit and a display is connected to the fault condition identification storage element. The photoelectric power supply is then connected to the fault condition identification storage element. The photoelectric power supply may be provided with a battery backup system for use when there is insufficient light incident on a photo cell to power system. The battery backup may be a rechargeable battery in the power supply can include a battery charger. The configuration of the power supply, including the photocell battery charger and backup battery allows the system to operate without drawing power from an engine CD ignition power supply.

  • Patent number: 5355733
Abstract: An indicator gauge may utilize a motion amplifying gauge movement. The motion amplifying mechanism makes it possible for a diaphragm-type pressure gauge to provide large angular displacements for an indicating pointer. The indicator gauge may be configured to have a maximum readout visibility in the range from about 0.degree. to about 270.degree.. A single-piece crankshaft located on an adjustable mounting translates the short range of motion of a diaphragm button to a pivotal gear segment. The crankshaft may be configured as a C-shaped crankshaft or an L-shaped crankshaft. The pivotal gear segment may be wedge-shaped or have an extension arm for contact with the crankshaft. The crankshaft may also contact a downwardly or upwardly extending boss located on the pivotal gear segment.

  • Patent number: 5283589
Abstract: A UHF mobile radio communications antenna that may be mounted on a vehicle window without drilling into or damaging the surface of the vehicle. An exterior part includes an antenna element and a resonant coupling circuit, and may be removably mounted to the exterior of the vehicle window. An interior part includes a resonant coupling circuit and a ground counterpoise, and may be removably mounted to the interior of the same window and positioned in alignment with the exterior part. The exterior and interior parts are in radio frequency communication by electromagnetic coupling therebetween. The interior part functions additionally as a radio frequency ground counterpoise independent of any vehicle metal. The interior part is adapted for connection to a mobile radio transceiver by coaxial cable. No post installation tuning of the invention is required and, thus, the invention may be easily installed without special skills.

  • Patent number: 5249262
Abstract: A Component Intersection Database Filter is a mechanism to process conjunction-of-constraints queries which does not require indexes, allows arbitrary query complexity without exponential explosion in query processing time, and is inexpensive to implement. For a wide variety of queries, this Component Intersection Database Filter Engine drastically reduces the amount of processing required to determine the final answers. For certain queries it can eliminate all incorrect answers, thus requiring no further processing. It is of linear complexity. High speed filtering can be done with simple hardware or software. Further, the processing can be combined with conventional selection filtering and both performed in a pipelined fashion as data streams off disc. The processing is accomplished by building a filter by intersecting predicate instantiations of corresponding unknown components and then filtering potential solution facts by eliminating those with terms corresponding to unknowns not within the intersection.

  • Patent number: 5241285
Abstract: A phase locked loop circuit may be utilized as a low jitter clock regenerator in order to generate an extremely stable low jitter signal which is to a large extent immune from input phase and frequency noise. The slaving clock generates an output at a fixed phase relationship to a reference input. The clock regenerator is advantageously implemented by a logic gate type phase detector connected to a multi-stage loop filter. The loop filter output is connected to a phase correction circuit whose output is mixed with the loop filter output to provide a control input to a voltage controlled oscillator. The voltage controlled oscillator output may be provided directly, or through a frequency divider, to a feed-back input of the phase detector.
