Abstract: A depth stop attached to a drill for producing precise countersinking in drilled holes. The depth stop produces an accurate and precise countersink in drilled holes by limiting the depth to which a drill bit can drill through a work piece. An audible click occurs for every 7.5 micron change in depth in the preferred embodiment. The depth stop is configured such that attempts to over tighten the lock screw which fixes the depth amount will not damage or deflect the working parts of the device thereby producing accurate and repeatable results.
Abstract: Members formed from thermally conductive components which have a gap therebetween. The gap is bridged and the conductive components integrated into a composite member by a reinforced polymer. This provides a thermal break which inhibits the flow of heat between the conductive components of the member. This construction also blocks the transfer of sound and other vibrations between the conductive components of the member. The construction also mitigates the formation of condensation on an artifact fixed to one of the components.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for welding together two pipes or plates. The bodies to be welded are placed mutually in line against each other while leaving clear a weld groove. The weld groove is filled with more than one welding layer by a welding torch moved in a longitudinal direction of the weld groove, and wherein two welding layers are laid in one welding pass by two welding torches placed successively at a predetermined fixed distance in the longitudinal direction of the weld groove, so that a time-saving is achieved in the welding process.

Abstract: A device for laying a pipeline on a seabed. A vessel for laying a pipeline, which is fitted with a stinger for guiding a pipe string descending from the vessel and with a clamping structure for clamping the pipe string to the vessel, and support structure for supporting the part of the pipe string that extends between the surface and the seabed. The support structure includes a cantilever structure, which is fixedly connected to the vessel, and clamping members that mate therewith. The clamping members engage the pipe string and transmit axial stresses from the pipe string to the vessel via the cantilever structure.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining properties of blood, such as the blood viscosity of a person, comprising of generating in vivo for a determined time, by means of an electrical alternating current of a determined frequency, a measurement signal of the impedance of the blood between at least two points centrally in a blood volume, wherein the measurement signal is processed such that variations therein with a frequency in the order of magnitude of the heart frequency are substantially absent therefrom, and comparing the processed measurement signal with predetermined relations between impedance and the properties of the blood, such as the viscosity.
Abstract: A device for orienting a number of objects. The device has a holder conveyor with holders for the objects, lifts synchronously co-displaceable with the holders and rotatable relative thereto for lifting the objects out of the holders and rotating the objects into and oriented standing rotational position relative to a standing rotation axis on the holders, a detector for detecting the standing rotational position of each object and a control device for the lifts which is connected to the detector and which activates the lifts for a relevant object as long as is required to rotate the oriented standing rotational position.
Abstract: A fork-lift truck for selectively displacing a load forward or sideways, comprising a horizontal, substantially U-shaped frame, a lifting mechanism for carrying the load, wherein legs of the frame extend along the lifting mechanism, and wheels on the legs which are connected to the legs via rotating mechanisms for driving and are rotatable on a substantially upward axis between positions corresponding with sideways and forward movements of the fork-lift truck. Flexible power supply and control lines run with slack through the legs to the wheels. There is further provided a bending mechanism at each of the legs for bending the power supply and control lines without frictional contact with the interior of the legs during release of the slack.

Abstract: Method of securing cargo to a deck with includes providing a beam of rectangular structural tubing or other shape having multiple D-rings or other lashing apertures along its length. The cargo is then lashed to the deck of a roll-on roll-off ship through the beam, with indexed aperture connections at each end which removabley connects the beam to the ship's deck using a pair of twist locks. With the application of the method, cargo lashing schemes with tighter packing of cargo and faster, more accurate placement, and safer stevedoring operations are effected according to shoreside prestowage plans. Top and bottom mounting points for twist locks allow easy storage, transport, and shoring.

Abstract: The invention relates to a flatware set for spaghetti. When spaghetti is eaten, the spaghetti threads are taken up onto the fork by turning the fork on its axis. In order to improve the spaghetti take-up, the fork (5) has the feature that the at least two teeth (8,9) extend substantially helically around a central axis of the fork. The fork teeth (8,9) then pick up the threads of spaghetti better. Despite a helical shape of the teeth (8,9), it is nevertheless possible to eat conveniently with this fork (5), since this fork (5) is pulled out of the mouth in a helical movement.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for connecting two pieces of pipe having flanges when the pipe pieces are located deep under a water surface. A movable bolt wrench is provided which has a number of wrenches mounted in a frame corresponding to the bolt holes on the flanges of the pipe pieces. Bolts located in the bolt wrenches are aligned with the bolt holes of the flanges and inserted into the bolt holes. A nut wrench is also provided containing nuts which, when aligned, are threaded onto the ends of the bolts associated with the bolt wrench. After the bolt and nut connections are made, these bolts and nuts are tightened by the operation of the bolt and nut wrenches.
