  • Patent number: 5705031
Abstract: In a kraft pulp mill, a process and apparatus for removing and washing dregs from green liquor so that the pH of the dregs is below "hazardous waste" levels. Specifically, green liquor clarifier underflow is filtered using a simple non-precoat cassette filter to form a first dregs cake. The dregs cake is diluted, preferably with water. The diluted dregs cake is then filtered in a precoat dregs filter to produce a dregs cake that is at least 50% solid and has a pH of about 12.0 or less.

  • Patent number: 5598774
Abstract: Two rolls, more particularly embossing rolls are provided which are pressed against each other by pneumatic cylinders for the purpose of fashioning a flat material passing between the rolls. The ends of one of the roll axles are journalled in slides which are actuatable by the cylinders in such a manner as to be deflectable in the pressure direction and in the travelling direction of the material. The elastically suspended roll is thus capable of automatically adjusting itself in such a manner that the axles of the two rolls can adjust to irregularities of the flat material and thus allow a disturbance-free and qualitatively optimal treatment of the material.

  • Patent number: 5594289
Abstract: On a rotor which is fixed to a rotatable rotating shaft, a plurality of permanent magnets are disposed along the direction of rotation such that the same magnetic pole type thereof face outward. In the same way, balancers are disposed on the rotor for balancing the rotation of this rotor. Each of the permanent magnets is obliquely arranged with respect to the radial direction line of the rotor. At the outer periphery of the rotor, an electromagnet is disposed facing this rotor, with this electromagnet intermittently energized based on the rotation of the rotor. According to the magnetic rotating apparatus of the present invention, rotational energy can be efficiently obtained from permanent magnets. This is made possible by minimizing as much as possible current supplied to the electromagnets, so that only a required amount of electrical energy is supplied to the electromagnets.

  • Patent number: 5584692
Abstract: In a tensioning gripper with a ring and a coaxially arranged rotary pin, both the ring and the pin are provided with a slot suitable for receiving a matrix to be tensioned. The slot of the rotary pin has a symmetry plane parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rotary pin. The sides of the slot are composed by two angled portions which are arranged symmetrically on both sides of the symmetry plane and both portions converge towards the longitudinal axis of the rotary pin, the two vertices of the portions being opposite and adjacent one another. Such a slot allows easy introduction and gripping of the matrix until, by rotating the pin, the matrix is held and tensioned.

  • Patent number: 5579624
Abstract: The fastening device for objects, more particularly cladding panels or parts of apparatus, comprises a profile bar receiving the object to be fastened. The profile bar is essentially formed of a center profile and a respective adjacent lateral profile on both sides which are designed in such a manner that the center profile and one of the lateral profiles form a respective continuous clamping channel receiving a portion of the object to be fastened. This allows a very simple attachment of a variety of objects without any visible fastening elements.

  • Patent number: 5579290
Abstract: The stator of the motor comprises two pole pieces (1, 2) which are axially staggered. An axially magnetized cylindrical rotor (5) is disposed in the openings or bores of said pole pieces. The rotor (5) is provided with an external toothing (3) which is continuously engaged with an internal toothing (4) of the stator. In the unexcited stator, the rotor (5) assumes a stable position by attraction to the pole pieces (1, 2). Due to the excitation of the stator by a pulse having a suitable polarity, the rotor is displaced to a diametrically opposed stable position. The toothings (3, 4) stay in engagement during said displacement, resulting in an angular displacement of the rotor, the angle being defined by the difference of the number of teeth of said toothings (3, 4). The motor allows a miniaturization and a simple control by alternating pulses of opposed polarities.

  • Patent number: 5562275
Abstract: A flexible spindle suitable for transmitting a torque as well as an axial thrust is constituted by a plurality of helical spirals of wire all of the same length. Each spiral has opposite winding directions to the winding direction of the adjacent spirals and the outer diameter of each spiral is equal to the inner diameter of the spiral which surrounds it. The terminal ends of the spirals are assembled integrally with each other and with the terminal ends of a flexible member situated inside the innermost spiral. Each sprial has a length which is equal to that of the other spirals as measured along their axis when these are in their bent operating position and under those conditions under which they are designed to transmit torque and thrust, with the flexible spindle resulting not to be radially or longitudinally deformable when under stress, thus transmitting the forces without loss.
