Abstract: A hydraulic antivibration support comprises a strength member connected to a plate by an elastomer body whose base is pressed against the plate to define two hydraulic chambers and a narrow channel, all filled with liquid. A perforated insert embedded in the base of the elastomer body has tabs crimped over two opposite reception edges of the plate, which edges form rims projecting away from the perforated insert. Each tab has a free end folded behind the corresponding rim to anchor the tab onto the rim.
Abstract: In a wrinkle release arrangement for a dryer, a heater heats articles to be wrinkle released, and a timer times the heating of the articles. The timer establishes a wrinkle out cycle. A temperature sensor senses a temperature related to a temperature of the articles. A control circuit substantially alternately energizes the heater and the timer in response to the temperature sensor in order to provide automatic wrinkle release responsive to load.
Abstract: A method of making an engineering ferrous metal comprising the steps of adding to liquid engineering ferrous metal solid alloy carbide particles and thereafter permitting the ferrous metal to solidify. The alloy carbide particles are coated with iron or an iron alloy to allow wetting to occur between the powder and the liquid ferrous metal and the particles have a density which matches that of the ferrous metal to provide a uniform distribution of the carbide particles in the ferrous metal. A roll may be made having at least a shell made of metal by such a method by centrifugal casting or electroslag remelting.

Abstract: A control for operating an engine in a braking mode of operation includes an actuator engagable with an engine exhaust valve. A braking magnitude is selected from a continuous range of braking magnitudes between minimum and maximum levels and turn-on and turn-off points for the actuator are established from the selected braking magnitude. The actuator is operated in accordance with the turn-on and turn-off points to cause the engine to develop the selected braking magnitude.

Abstract: A fluid pressure control valve includes a double acting solenoid and a poppet valve seatable against two opposite valve seats. The respective solenoids are momentarily operated to move the poppet valve into respective valve seat positions. Solenoid actuation is terminated when the poppet valve reaches the valve seat position. The poppet valve is maintained against one of the valve seats by a spring force. A hydraulic force maintains the poppet valve against the opposite valve seat. One valve seat has a larger diameter than the other so that the hydraulic force against the poppet valve in one seat position develops a larger force than the spring force, whereas in the opposite valve seating position, the spring force is greater than the developed hydraulic force.
