  • Patent number: 6257114
Abstract: A firing lever mechanism for use with a firearm is disclosed. The firing lever mechanism includes a slide disposed for reciprocating movement between a distal position and a proximal position, and a first spring that biases the slide toward the distal position. A firing lever is mounted for pivotal movement between a rest position and an operating position. In the rest position, the firing lever is disposed in substantial alignment with the longitudinal axis of the firearm to facilitate grasping of the firing lever. When the firing lever is pivoted through a first predefined angle in a direction away from the operating position, the slide is released from the locked position. The first spring then moves the slide toward the distal position thereby pivoting the lever toward the operating position.

  • Patent number: 6260157
Abstract: A processing device includes a ROM having program instructions and at leas one jump instruction stored therein, a patch program for patching the program instructions in the ROM, a RAM capable of storing the patch program and a patch vector table that indicates the location of the patch program. A processor executes the program instructions in the program ROM and uses the patch vector table to execute the patch program when one of the jump instructions is reached. The patch program may be stored in the RAM and the patch vector table may point to the address in the RAM at which the patch program is stored so that the processor jumps directly to the RAM to execute the patch program when it reaches the one of the jump instructions. Likewise, a patch engine may be used to locate a specified patch program, load the specified patch program into the RAM and execute the specified patch program when the processor reaches the one of the jump instructions.

  • Patent number: 6253383
Abstract: A chemical-resistant protective glove includes a polymer base with a thin fluoroelastomeric coating. The glove is made by first placing the base on a mounting frame and inflating it with gas to spread the fingers. Successive thin layers of a water-base emulsion of the fluoroelastomeric material are then sprayed on the base. The final coating is applied with a relatively high air flow, creating a matte finish.

  • Patent number: 6253678
Abstract: A method of printing using a press having first and second printing units and responsive to electronic data includes the steps of running the press to cause first and second printing units to produce first and second printed components, respectively, on a substrate, stopping the press and inspecting the first and second printed components to determine a degree of misregistration of the first printed component relative to the second printed component caused by substrate growth. Original electronic data representing an image to be printed by the press are modified in dependence upon the degree of misregistration. The press is subsequently operated in accordance with the modified electronic data to print the image with a reduced degree of misregistration.

  • Patent number: 6252751
Abstract: A method and apparatus for distributing alternating electrical current to motors via a direct current bus is provided. The method and apparatus is directed towards a system wherein a plurality of motors may be controlled by individual motor drives. AC power is supplied to a single active rectifier circuit (as opposed to one per motor) which maintains unity power factor in the AC power and which develops DC power for a DC distribution system. The DC distribution system, which comprises a set of controllable contactors, is in turn coupled to a plurality of motor drive units which convert the DC power into properly conditioned AC power for operating associated motors. The system operates in response to commands issued by a programmable controller. In the event of a fault in one of the drive units, fault isolation may be accomplished by individually turning off each motor drive in sequence via the associated contactor to determine the faulty drive unit.

  • Patent number: 6252191
Abstract: EDM according to the present invention involves an intermttent type of operation between erosion pulses and measurement pulses in order to circumvent an interfering self-control effect of an electrode during fine machining. To achieve shorter processing times, higher precision and better reproducibility, the method and apparatus determine with an electrical measurement the amount that an electrode is in contact with a workpiece during a measurement time that erosion has been interrupted. A pulse duty factor is then obtained from the contact amount to control further processing via, for example, the duration of the erosion pulses.

  • Patent number: 6249933
Abstract: A pump has a housing defining a pump chamber and having a shaft opening. An impeller shaft extends through the shaft opening and is sized to define a gap between the impeller shaft and the shaft opening. An impeller is attached to the shaft inside the pump chamber. The impeller includes a first set of impeller blades for transporting fluid through the pump chamber and a second set of impeller blades for creating a pressure force which pushes fluid away from the shaft opening. The pump with sealless shaft prevents fluid from leaking through the gap, and therefore is particularly suited for use in a tank-type vacuum cleaner capable of collecting both dry material and fluid. The gap is used in such an application to prime the pump, thereby discharging fluid collected in the tank.
