  • Patent number: 6751384
Abstract: A fiber optic faceplate for protecting photosensitive material from high light levels which comprises an optical structure which optically acts like a solid window at low light levels, but which at least one of attenuates or diffuses light incident on the photocathode as a function of light amplitude. A method of operation and of manufacturing the faceplate, and devices incorporating the faceplate are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6734120
Abstract: A method of enabling the removal of fluorine containing residue from a semiconductor substrate comprising applying a gas and/or vapor to which the residue is reactive to the residue while the temperature of the substrate is at an elevated level with respect to ambient temperature and the residue is exposed to ultraviolet radiation, for a time period which is sufficient to effect at least one of volatilizing the residue or rendering the residue hydrophilic enough to be removable with deionized water.

  • Patent number: 6667472
Abstract: An image intensifier tube which obviates problems with stray reflections caused by bright lights utilizes an antireflection coating in the form of an interference filter on the cathode window. An image intensifier—which is protected against laser damage utilizes a laser reflecting coating on the cathode window. The image intensifier is disposed between an optical input element and an optical utilization element. The cathode window is a glass plate having a photocathode on the side away from the optical input element and an antireflection or laser reflecting coating on the side which faces the optical input element.

  • Patent number: 6483952
Abstract: In an optical system having a detector means and processor means in which imaging data is obtained comprising noisy blurred scene data containing an object to be reconstructed, and noisy blurred background data of the same scene, a method for increasing the spatial resolution of the imaging data produced by the optical system, comprising the steps of converting the imaging data into a first matrix, regularizing the first matrix by performing nth order Tikhonov regularization to the first matrix to provide a regularized pseudo-inverse (RPI) matrix and applying the RPI matrix to the first matrix to provide a reconstructed image of the object.

  • Patent number: 4042850
Abstract: An apparatus for efficiently coupling microwave energy to a highly dissipative load such as a plasma lamp tube. A longitudinally extending lamp tube is enclosed in a longitudinally extending non-resonant microwave chamber having a pair of coupling slots therein which are oriented perpendicular to the direction of the lamp tube. The slots are azimuthally offset in opposite directions with respect to a longitudinally extending top center line of the chamber by about 15.degree. to 20.degree., and are located near respective ends of the chambers but at different distances therefrom. Microwave energy from a pair of microwave energy generating means is coupled to the respective slots with the frequency outputs of the generating means being offset from each other by a small amount.
