  • Patent number: 5981650
Abstract: Cold-seal adhesives are disclosed that contain no natural rubber and are capable of forming dry coatings on flexible films which adhere to one another with commercially acceptable packaging strength at room temperature by pressure contact, but also allow such layered substrata to be reeled into rolls and stored for extended periods of time without blocking. The flexible films are usable in forming packages, particularly for comestibles and pharmaceuticals, without need for heat sealing. Such cold-seal adhesives are aqueous dispersions containing 30 to 55 percent of a polyurethane ionomer reaction product, having a T.sub.g of between about -50 to 10.degree. C., of a mixture of (a) a blend of between 0 and 40 percent polyester polyol and between 60 and 100 percent polyether polyol, (b) aliphatic diisocyanate and (c) dimethylol propionic acid and preferably containing 0.05 to 4 percent of grafted amorphous silica.

  • Patent number: 5932666
Abstract: This invention is a thermoplastic saturated polyester low profile additive (low profile additive) useful in sheet molding compounds for parts, especially vehicle parts. The additive has a major component derived from aromatic compounds such as terephthalic acid including recycled polyethylene terephthalate. Asymmetrical glycols are an important ingredient and can be used to digest recycled PET to make oligomeric glycols which are reacted with acids having fewer than 12 carbon atoms to make one of the low profile additives of this invention.

  • Patent number: 5861466
Abstract: Vinyl ester resins processed until low epoxy values are reached are storage stable for two weeks at 54.degree. C. (130.degree. F.). Adding a copper salt inhibitor also provides two weeks storage stability at 54.degree. C. (130.degree. F.). A synergistic effect is observed if both low epoxy values are reached and copper naphthenate inhibitor is used, extending shelf life stability to two months at 54.degree. C. (130.degree. F.).
