  • Patent number: 5083466
Abstract: A multibeam structure measures displacement of one or more response elements to detect multiple components of applied force. The flexible beams are each coupled to a response element which may be displaced by a force arising from linear acceleration, angular acceleration, fluid flow, electric/magnetic/gravitational fields, and others sources. The displacement of the response element is detected with a variety of sensing methods including capacitive and piezoresistive sensing.

  • Patent number: 5042800
Abstract: A spine tensioning apparatus comprising a back support that supports only the back, but not the posterior, and a leg support having an inverted V cross section spaced apart from and aligned with the back support. Preferably the back support and the leg support are mounted on vertical risers attached to a horizontal base. The vertical risers can be posiitoned so that when a user reclines in the apparatus, the user's back and legs, but not the posterior, are supported, thereby creating tension along the spine.

  • Patent number: 5024409
Abstract: A slidably lockable bracket having two levels and a keyhole aperture with a slot running from the upper level to the lower level and an enlarged aperture at the end of the slot at the upper level. A sliding member having a post and an enlarged head is engaged and locked in the bracket by inserting the head through the enlarged aperture, sliding the post along the slot, and dropping the head in the lower portion, thereby locking the head on the lower level. Preferably the lower level is configured to retain the head.

  • Patent number: 5013417
Abstract: A water purifier including a floating body having two parallel disk shaped electrodes extending into the water. The polarity between the disks is alternated at predetermined intervals to avoid plating. The disks are preferably made of a copper/silver alloy. Preferably the device is powered by a photovoltaic panel attached to a skimmer cover. Alternatively, the device can be powered by a photovoltaic panel laminated to the top or the device can be configured for insertion into a pipe plug unit that can be used in connection with a pipe T.

  • Patent number: 4953311
Abstract: A pair of golf shoes or inserts for golf shoes is provided in which, for a right handed golfer, the heel of the right foot is canted to the left, and the instep of the left foot is also canted to the left. The shoes or inserts are asymmetrically designed to optimize the different functions performed by a golfer's feet and to improve a golfer's balance and body position during a golf swing.

  • Patent number: 4925328
Abstract: A sheet retaining binder is described for detachably holding perforated sheets, the binder comprising a front cover, a rear cover, and a spine, a plurality of sheet retaining rings each ring comprising two portions detachably engaging at one end and hinged at the other; the hinge projecting beyond the sides of the ring and passing through a plate attached solidly to the rear cover such that the hinge axis lies just inside the cover edge and approximately at the middle of the cover thickness dimension. The cover and spine assembly are slotted to allow the rings to pass through. The connections of the covers to the spine and the center-line of the spine are hinged to allow for complete 360 degree rotation of the front cover and any number of contained sheets relative to the rear cover.
