  • Patent number: 4338988
Abstract: An automatic tire chain for driver operated vehicles includes a chain device that is moved to the road contact surface of a tire from a position adjacent thereto by means of a spring mechanism placed under tension when the chain is held away from the road contact surface of the tire. A pair of rings, one being fixed to the wheel and the other being slideably mounted thereon are provided with indexing slots. The slideable ring has a chain affixed thereon and is moved relative to the fixed ring by an operator activated engaging mechanism mounted on the vehicle. The engaging means engages the indexing slots and moves the slideable ring relative to the fixed ring while the vehicle moves along the road at a speed less than 10 miles per hour placing the chain adjacent to the road contact surface of the tire.

  • Patent number: 4333197
Abstract: An ultrasonic toothbrush for use in personal dental hygiene care includes an elongated handle member in the form of a hollow housing having disposed therein a low voltage coil and cooperating ferrite core which is driven at ultrasonic frequencies. Affixed to the core is a brush member adapted to be received within the human mouth and moved across tooth and gingival surfaces. The brush member has been adhesively affixed to an impedance transfer device which in turn has been adhesively affixed to the core material. The impedance transfer device insures the maximum transfer of ultrasonic energy from the core material to the brush. The ultrasonic energy driving means for the core requires a relatively low voltage and permits the coil to be sealed in the handle impervious to contamination by water.

  • Patent number: 4331838
Abstract: A telephone ringer isolator includes an electronic switch which enables it to operate at reduced ringer voltages. In the ringer isolator, the central office ringing signal is rectified and voltage doubled across a circuit containing two diodes and two capacitors. The second capacitor is connected across a neon tube. When the voltage across the second capacitor rises to a preselected value, the neon tube is fired to emit light onto a light sensitive resistor which feeds gate current to a Triac to turn the Triac on. The Triac, in turn, grounds the telephone ringer.

  • Patent number: 4236739
Abstract: A thread inserter and braking mechanism for a knotting apparatus used on spooling machines includes thread inserting and braking arms disposed on either side of the binding heads and external to the housing mounting the knotting apparatus. Brake pads disposed on either side of the housing cooperate with the thread inserter and braking arms and interact with the threads, retaining the threads to be knotted therebetween. The braking action overcomes the pressure exerted against the threads by the lifting arms of the knotting apparatus and retains the threads in position until the threads are released from the binding heads and a tight knot is formed therein.
