Abstract: A hat or cap includes a main hat portion and an outerband or fold-down portion secured to the main hat portion in a manner that permits the outerband to be moved upward and downward with respect to the main hat portion from a first position, in which the outerband lies over the main hat portion and away from the wearer's face and eyes, to a second position in which the outerband covers and protects a part of the wearer's face including the eyes. A lens or goggle portion, which is integrated into and attached to an opening in the outerband, is positioned over the wearer's eyes when the outerband is in its second, lower position.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for measuring the angular or linear displacement of an object. That displacement is transmitted to a movable conductive member, which, in response thereto, is moved to a position at which it electrically contacts one of a plurality of fixed contacts, thereby to complete an electrical circuit that includes a memory location in a read-only memory that contains digital data representing the amount of displacement that correlates to the fixed contact associated with that memory location. That digital data is transferred to an output device for display or additional data processing.

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring and displaying the altitude of a kite in the air includes a device for measuring the length of the kite line that has been unwound from the reel and a device that produces a signal to a microprocessor that represents the angle the kite line makes with the horizontal. The height of the kite, which is computed from the measured line length and angle, is displayed.
