  • Patent number: 4077476
Abstract: A cultivating implement has an elongated frame portion and soil working members journalled in the frame portion to rotate about upwardly extending axes. Each soil working member has a single downwardly extending tine that is spaced from a shaft that defines the corresponding axis of rotation. The upper ends of the shafts of the members are secured to pinion gears and the gears of neighboring shafts are meshed with one another so that a power take off connection to a central pinion drives all of the pinions and adjacent soil working members rotate in relatively opposite directions. The members are staggered in two straight transverse rows so that their axes of rotation are arranged at the corners of an imaginary zig-zag line when the implement is viewed in plan and the members of a leading row are rotated in common in a direction opposite from those members of a rear row. The tines of the members in each row are preferably orientated in the same direction.

  • Patent number: 4074765
Abstract: A soil cultivating implement is structured to work soil across a broad path and includes a frame that can be towed when hitched to trail substantially behind the rear of a prime mover. The main frame supports a central frame portion and an outer frame portion is pivoted at each lateral end of the central portion. Each frame portion is elongated with a corresponding group of soil working members being rotatably mounted on upwardly extending axes. The frame portions and groups of soil working members are located side-by-side in a row that extends transverse to the direction of operative travel. For transport purposes, each outer group is pivoted by a hydraulic system to an upwardly tilted position to narrow the implement's width. Ground wheels are hydraulically interconnected to the frame and positioned at the rear of the central portion to sustain essentially all of the implement's weight. The height of the implement frame is adjustable with the wheels.

  • Patent number: 4062511
Abstract: A bracket has a base or back that can be attached to a support, and spaced-apart, substantially vertical projections or flanges extend out from the back. The flanges are load-bearing and spaced apart to leave two side-by-side U-shaped recesses of unequal width. The recess of greater width is dimensioned to receive the two flanges that define the recess of lesser width when an identical and second bracket is positioned opposite the first and the flanges of the two brackets interfitted. Thus, a bracket pair is formed with their wide and narrow recesses being interfitted. At the bottom of the narrow recess, a captured nut on an apertured tab is positioned to receive a threaded screw or bolt from above. A strip with holes bridges the upper edges of the flanges of both brackets of the pair and screws can be passed through the holes between the flanges to engage the nuts at the lower ends of the narrow recesses.

  • Patent number: 4062173
Abstract: A haymaking machine has a pair of rotatable rake members that are driven to turn in relative opposite directions about upwardly extending axes, towards one another to pass crop between them. Outwardly extending tines on the rake members define circular paths that intersect or are closely adjacent one another during operation. Beginning at the front of the rake members, with respect to the normal direction of travel, a pair of crop feeders are positioned to guide crop between the rake members and towards the intersecting paths of their tines. The feeders comprise downwardly extending elements that can be curved or configured to shed crop adjacent the ground, near the rotating tines. Further feeders of similar structure are positioned to the rear of the forward pair but within the paths traced by the tines, when viewed in plan. The feeders can be adjustable in a vertical direction and/or deflectable against spring opposition to accommodate heavy crop.
