  • Patent number: 6306937
Abstract: Fully oxidized cutback asphalts suitable for application in roofing, waterproofing, and sealing applications in all weather conditions, including as mastics and other sealants. Compositions according to the invention comprise unprecedented proportions of solids and asphalts yet remain workable to temperatures as low as 20° F. or below. In addition to fully-oxidized roofing-grade asphalts, preferred compositions according to the invention also comprise hydrophobic agents selected from the group comprising fatty acids and amine compounds and may be applied in rain or other wet conditions, and include polybutene or fatty acid peptizers to control the glass transition temperature of the completed mastic and thereby permit application of the composition at extremely low temperatures. Preferred embodiments optionally also comprise fillers such as cellulose fibers, diatomaceous earth, limestone, and asbestos for various advantageous purposes.

  • Patent number: 5886060
Abstract: Method for obtaining the foamed organosilicon compositions, involving mixing of organosiloxane rubber (OR), organosilicon joining (JA) and modifier (M). Agents acting like (OR) are represented by polyorganosiloxane block-copolymers having formula as follows: {?R.sup.1 SiO.sub.1.5 !.sub.a ?R.sup.2 (OH)SiO!.sub.b, ?R.sup.3 R.sup.4 SiO!.sub.c }.sub.n, where: R.sup.1 R.sup.2 R.sup.3 R.sup.4 are aliphatic, aromatic radicals having from 1 to 6 atoms carbon; n is an integer from 30 to 360; c=1; a is selected from the 0.019-3.760 interval; b is selected from the 0.008-0.240 interval; or the mixture of the above block-copolymer with the ".alpha.", ".omega."-dihydroxypolydiorganosiloxane in the ratio of (0.05-0.5): 1, respectively; while the individual compositions or mixtures of polyorganohydridesiloxanes act as (JA), having general formula as follows: R.sub.3 SiO?R.sup.1 (H)SiO!.sub.m --?R.sub.2 SiO!.sub.n SiR.sub.3 or at least one substance from the compositions having general formula as follows: RSiX.sub.

  • Patent number: 5817164
Abstract: Improvements in metallurgical conversion in accordance with the present intion consist in the preparation of a semifinished item (a charge stock) in the form of a pig by forming thereof in a molding box of a casting machine from a solid filler, for the most part an oxidizing agent, and a liquid pig iron followed by cooling, provided said solid filler and said liquid pig iron undergo, in the process of forming, an action which prevents the floating up of the solid filler in the liquid pig iron. Such an action is effected both by applying a mechanical force, in particular by providing a casting machine with a cantilever (8) having a hollow roller (9) which rests on a molding box (2) and a weighting material (10), and by choosing relative dimensions of the solid filler pieces and selecting a rate of pig casting. Optimal conditions for using such semifinished item for metallurgical conversion which in accordance with the present invention is carried out in oxygen converters and arc furnaces are described.

  • Patent number: 5817025
Abstract: The method for diagnosing malignancy diseases involving analysis of blood plasma by laser correlational spectroscopy (LSC) techniques includes the steps of: preparing a weak diluted solution of native blood plasma, determining a spectral density of light scattering intensity fluctuations within the frequency range between 1 and 1000 Hz, distinguishing a spectrum core and making a diagnosis from a frequency of a maximum and an intensity-to-half-width ratio of a spectrum core envelope, a malignancy disease being detected when the diagnostic parameters are less than the appropriate rates. The apparatus for diagnosing malignancy diseases includes a nephelometer and a series-connected correlation spectrum analyzer.

  • Patent number: 5811014
Abstract: A process for treating flowable waste material to sanitize contaminants in the material includes the steps of neutralizing the charges of the molecules of the contaminants in the flowable waste material, for causing the molecules to separate from each other to increase treatment efficiency; exposing the flowable waste material to ozone; exposing the flowable waste material to electron beam radiation; exposing the flowable waste material to ultraviolet radiation; and exposing the flowable waste material to an ozone destructor mechanism. An apparatus is provided for treating and sanitizing flowable waste material containing contaminants, including an allotropic cell having a low density polyethylene sleeve removably secured over the tube outer surface for collecting material deposited onto the tube from the flowable waste material so that the deposited material is removable together with the sleeve.
