Patent number: 5584343Abstract: A method and apparths for filling and circulating drilling fluid in a wellbore during casing running operations is disclosed. A fill/circulate tool is placed partially within the upper end of a casing string so that fluid may be pumped into the interior of the casing string. The tool has a self energizing seal element which engages the interior wall of the casing string when the tool is fully lowered therein, said seal element being energized by the pressure of the fluid in the casing string so that fluid pumped into the casing string through the tool is circulated through the casing string and explled from the lower end of the casing string.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Assignee: Davis-Lynch, Inc.Inventor: Malcolm G. Coone

Patent number: 5460566Abstract: This invention relates to a vibrating abrasive cleaning apparatus and method which is powered by a hydraulic drive motor mounted to a square tubing frame which is housed within an enclosure that is vibrated by an eccentric shaft assembly directly coupled to the hydraulic drive motor and square tubing frame. The container assembly is mounted on the rigid square tubing frame, on one side by compression springs, on the opposite side by tension springs. The compression springs and tension springs have a different spring rate which produces better rolling of the media and therefore, faster parts circulation and cleaning. To further give flexibility to the cleaning process the hydraulic power supply is equipped with the variable volume piston pump to give infinite speed settings. The eccentric shaft assembly with the eccentric weight positions set at different relative positions to one another gives the operator the ability to adjust the machine to produce optimum results with all parts, sizes, and weights.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1993Date of Patent: October 24, 1995Assignee: Drilltech Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Joe O. Patent number: 5371915Abstract: An improved toothbrush design incorporating a bristle head including a fixed obtuse angle. This toothbrush is designed to be the sole implement needed for dental hygiene. The angle in the bristle head is formed by intermediate and distal segments which each have a straight longitudinal center axis. The intermediate segment is connected to a neck which in turn, is connected to a handle, each also having a straight longitudinal center axis. The neck, handle, and intermediate segments are contiguous and co-linear so as to provide superior cleansing of the lingual, buccal, embrasure, and distal aspects of the teeth and gums.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1993Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Inventor: John R. Patent number: 5337829Abstract: A hydraulic release tool used above any work string which includes an elongated mandril and a releasing means axially and slidingly mounted within the mandril and having an internal stabilizing means and/or external/internal fishing/neck capable of releasing a male conversion means and/or external/internal fishing neck. The male conversion means and/or external/internal fishing neck is disposed at the lower end of the hydraulic release tool, and is released when the work string tools become stuck, thus allowing the stuck work string tools to become relieved by any conventional standardized overshot fishing tool; while also allowing the retrieval of the tubing above the released hydraulic release tool.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1993Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Inventor: William T. Taylor

Patent number: 5269374Abstract: This invention relates to the method and apparatus for locating and indicating collars and tubing ends through the use of a locator capable of repetitive use in a number of runs downhole in any given tubing situation. Specifically, this invention relates to a series of compressive springs and bows protruding radially outward from the locator and coming into contact with the inner bore of the tubing, thereby indicating upon contact with the collar or tubing end when run downhole. Therefore, this invention relates to a new and improved tubing end locator capable of running a number of times downhole to locate collars and tubing ends without the necessity of removal of the tubing end locator uphole and re-working or re-tooling. Alternatively, this locator may be used as a centralizer to center any object within the tubing that is connected to the locator.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1991Date of Patent: December 14, 1993Inventor: William T. Patent number: 5209606Abstract: The present invention comprises a lightweight, portable, adjustable, reusable, preassembled, hydraulic expandable shoring shield for providing safety to personnel working in below-grade excavations. The Shoring shield comprises specially designed solid aluminum extruded sheeting sections forming the walls, each mounted with a top cap and lower skid, the walls are provided with a static expandable telescoping structural framework for holding the walls opposed, and also are provided with hydraulic cylinders for expanding the space enclosed between the walls, the framework and cylinders thus cooperate in combination with an armored manifold for routing fluid to the cylinders.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1992Date of Patent: May 11, 1993Assignee: Speed Shore Corp.Inventor: Michael J. Patent number: 5111885Abstract: An explosive charge carrier is provided which is lowered into a well pipe casing. The carrier includes wear plates that slide along the inner diameter of the pipe and which are biased against the inner wall of the well pipe casing. A string of explosive charges having a density of up to six charges per foot are mounted between disks of the carrier which are separated by 12 inches. Spaced about the periphery of the separated disks are a maximum density of six strings of charges separated by 60.degree. for 36 explosive charges. Alternately, four strings of charges may be spaced about the periphery of the separated disks at a spacing of 90.degree. for 16 explosive charges.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1990Date of Patent: May 12, 1992Assignee: Directional Wireline Service, Inc.Inventor: Donald V. Patent number: 5099725Abstract: An apparatus for making up or breaking out of two members having mating threaded connections, such as pipe joints or bolts for avoiding undesirable transverse forces relative to the two members during tightening (or loosening), thereby insuring the connection is made up (or broken out) by essentially pure torque loads. The apparatus includes a power-driven lead tong, a back-up tong, a load cell which cooperates with either tong to produce a torque measurement and an interconnecting frame and isolation apparatus which eliminates transverse forces relative to the two threaded members. The power-driven lead tong rotatingly drives the first threaded member about its axis either clockwise or counterclockwise, as required. The back-up tong secures the second threaded member against axial rotation in response to the rotation of the first member.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1990Date of Patent: March 31, 1992Assignee: Franks Casing Crew and Rental Tools, Inc.Inventors: Vernon J. Bouligny, Jr., Mark S. Sibille

Patent number: 5052911Abstract: A pelletizer blade for use with an underwater extruder-pelletizer is disclosed which includes an impeller surface that keeps the water away form the die face when cutting to prevent uneven cooling of the die face and extruded material. The blade includes a solid rectangular body having an impeller surface extending therefrom and normal thereto. The impeller surface is at a slight angle in the direction of rotation and includes a cutting edge on the side mounted adjacent to the die face.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1989Date of Patent: October 1, 1991Inventor: Olvin J.
