  • Patent number: 5027575
Abstract: This invention provides a method for repair for poles which have been damaged by environmental effects, which is easily transportable, simple to install, and easily adaptable to many classes of poles. The method involves excavating around the pole, cleaning the surface of the pole, pumping a fumigant into the pole, applying a bonding agent to the clean surface, and then applying strips of a composite fiberglass mat and resin to the pole in a controlled manner until a desired casement thickness has been achieved. The repair is completed by application of an ultraviolet resistant coating to the pole.

  • Patent number: 5022473
Abstract: A jar tool for inclusion into a well fishing operating string which provides resilient tensional stretch to operate the tool. The tool is adapted to compress an upper release spring to store energy corresponding to tensional force in the operating string force. A release latching lug array connects the spring to a central mandrel having an impact hammer. The tool housing forms an impact anvil. The spring is compressed to a designated compressional force by the distance that the latch lug array is moved in an adjustable latch release sleeve before suddenly releasing the spring from the mandrel. The tension in the operating string then pulls the mandrel hammer into jarring impact with the housing anvil. Provision is made for designating this pre-release movement of the latching lug array and also provides apparatus for adjusting the distance of the pre-release movement and thereby the compressional force imparted into the spring.

  • Patent number: 4946030
Abstract: An emergency key holder card which includes a credit card sized key holder card retaining emergency keys, as well as, various other incidentals. The keys may be separably retained within corresponding apertures of the card, or may be separably, hingedly attached to the emergency key holder card such that they may pivot into and out of the plane of the card. The hinge means provided pursuant to this invention allows for each key to be separated from the card at the preference of the user. Each key may be separably retained within the key holder card by means of a tab and corresponding recess arrangement, by manufacturing the key such that each non-cut edge directly abuts the corresponding key aperture edge of the key holder card, or by a separable hinge means as described above. Each key may also be separably retained within corresponding key shaped apertures.

  • Patent number: 4939037
Abstract: A composite fiber and resin sign post for displaying highway signs which provides great reduction in vehicle damage in the event a vehicle moving at high speed collides with the sign post. This potential is achieved by the controlling the mode and location of the structural failure of the post upon impact. The failure mode of the post is controlled by varying the configuration of the post in cross-section, in combination with varying the specific fibers and resins, and in further combination with varying the location and placement of the fibers. The composite post may be constructed by pultrusion, filament winding, or related processes. A preferred embodiment uses a ground anchor socket constructed either by processes and components similar to those used in manufacturing the post, or by stamping sheet steel and spot welding to form a socket. The anchor socket provides additional control over the post failure and makes replacement of damaged posts quicker and easier.

  • Patent number: 4694656
Abstract: The method of repetitively making discrete blocks of ice which is performed with apparatus having a plurality of adjacently disposed ice freezing pockets formed with a refrigeration evaporator as the base of each pocket of the pockets, horizontally extending and vertically spaced apart evaporator fins as the sides of the pockets, and horizontally pivotal vertical plates as the ends of the pockets. A refrigeration apparatus is provided to alternately freeze the refrigeration evaporator of the ice freezing pockets and very quickly and very briefly heat the refrigeration evaporator directly to loosen the ice blocks from the freezing pockets. Apparatus is provided to apply a force to the vertical plates until the immediate surfaces of the ice blocks are melted and loosened from the freezing pockets. The vertical plates thereon move the ice blocks within the freezing pockets, then are rapidly returned to an initial position which ejects the ice blocks completely from the freezing pockets.

  • Patent number: 4693815
Abstract: A self-cleaning filter apparatus including a first filter unit and a second filter unit. Each filter unit includes a housing forming an internal cavity, a liquid agitator means rotatably mounted within the cavity and adapted to be rotated by a rotating means external of the housing. A flat filter element is mounted in supported relation between the housing and a connected housing cap with a filter face openly exposed to said cavity. The housing forms inlet and outlet liquid flow passages for circulating a liquid sample through the cavity around the agitator and into filterable contact with the filter face. The agitator means agitates the liquid sample within the cavity and forces a portion of the liquid sample in a washing action across the filter face. The housing cap forms a liquid filtrate passageway for withdrawing a filtered sample of the liquid sample through filter element. A drive is connected to concurrently drive the agitators of both first filter units.
