  • Patent number: 7669133
Abstract: A system and method for developing rules for validating a process having one or more parameters. The system or method may be used with a knowledge management system to validate the process. In one example, one or more rules are created to be used to validate the process, and the one or more rules are stored in a repository. One or more parameters relating to the process are obtained, one or more rules associated with the process are obtained from the repository, and the one or more rules obtained are used to validate the one or more parameters of the process. If the one or more parameters comply with the one or more rules, an indication thereof may be provided. Or if the one or more parameters do not comply with the one or more rules, an indication thereof may be provided.

  • Patent number: 7658243
Abstract: Systems and methods for preventing slippage and rotation of components installed in a tubular housing member and/or along a rotatable tubular shaft during drilling operations are disclosed herein. The housing and/or rotatable shaft include a shoulder disposed proximate to one end. An adjustable member is secured proximate to the opposite end. One or more components are installed, covering a first portion of the surface between the adjustable member and shoulder. One or more spacing members are installed to cover substantially all of the remaining surface. The adjustable member is tightened such that the adjustable member and the shoulder apply a compressive axial load to the components and spacing members, causing frictional forces between adjacent objects greater than the torque acting on the housing and/or tubular shaft, causing each component to remain stationary with respect to the surface to which it is secured.

  • Patent number: 7637546
Abstract: A channel member having four roller wheels is controlled by an ergonomic handle formed from a continuous length of aluminum tubing having a first arm to support one hand of a user, and a second arm to support a second hand of the user to guide and stabilize the handle, and to accept the weight of the user, when the roller wheels are pushed against an oilfield tubular, thus causing the oilfield tubular to be rolled from one position to another.

  • Patent number: 7628200
Abstract: An automated tubular running tool for use in drilling systems and the like allows for the picking up, positioning, stabbing and threadedly connecting a tubular segment to a tubular string being held by the rig by a spider. The tool comprises a pivoting arm, which can pickup, position, stab and threadedly connect the tubular segment. The tool further features an integral elevator, which then lowers the piping string tubing string into the well bore. This tubular running tool allows for the connection of tubular segments to a tubular string without the need of personnel.

  • Patent number: 7607496
Abstract: A device for boring a well with casing. The device is attached to a motor that has a power shaft for imparting rotational movement. The device comprises a driver operatively connected to the power shaft, with the driver containing a cylindrical body, a first bit having a first end connected to the driver so that rotational movement of the driver is imparted to the first bit, and a sleeve disposed about the power shaft, and wherein the sleeve has a radial shoulder. The device further includes casing attached to the sleeve, and wherein the casing is designed to be permanently placed within the well once the boring is completed. The device further comprises a housing disposed about the driver, a second bit attached to the housing, and a planetary gear anchored to the radial shoulder, and wherein the planetary gear is adapted for imparting rotation from the driver to the housing in a counter radial direction.

  • Patent number: 7594428
Abstract: The method comprising the steps of engaging the flow circuit of the detector with a reference fluid, accepting a sample in the flow circuit of the detector, sensing an attribute of the sample for determining a characteristic of the sample, changing the direction of the flow of the sample in the flow circuit, and purging the sample from the flow circuit such that the flow circuit is ready to accept another sample. Another method provides the steps of engaging the flow circuit of the detector with a reference fluid, inserting a sample in the flow circuit juxtaposed to the reference fluid, sensing an attribute of the sample for determining a characteristic of the sample, and deviating the direction of the flow of the sample from the flow circuit for purging the sample from the flow circuit such that the reference fluid is maintained in the flow circuit.

  • Patent number: 7585413
Abstract: Novel methods and apparatuses are disclosed for the treatment of wastewater to reduce, often associated, offensive odors. Irrigation of oxygenated liquid on top of a permeable cover effectively creates an aerobic treatment zone at the top of the lagoon whereby odorous gases being produced anaerobically below the cover are metabolized within this zone before being released to the atmosphere. This same system also serves to increase evaporation from the overall waste handling system therefore substantially reducing or eliminating the need for land application of treated wastewater.

  • Patent number: 7513537
Abstract: A connection for the quick and functionally reliable connection of tubulars including pipes and casing. The connection having a male or pin end and a mating female, box, or socket end and sections of circumferentially and axially extending protuberances such as thread segments or lugs interrupted by slots extending circumferentially and axially approximately the same distance as the corresponding protuberance section. Both the pin and box have matching or corresponding arrays of interrupted threads and slots. When properly aligned, the array will be accepted by a corresponding slot when mating the pin and box. After proper mating, the connection is secured by rotating the pin or box to further mate the corresponding patches of the pin and box.

  • Patent number: 7503394
Abstract: A four-cornered, open frame, connected either to a top drive or to a traveling block, has an elevator at its lower end used to support the weight of the tubular string, and has a mud tool, a stabber, a guide, a spinner, a tong, a stabbing guide and a backup tong carried by the frame. A manipulator arm picks up a horizontal tubular, manipulates the tubular to vertical, and moves the tubular into the interior of the frame, allowing the tubular to be made up in the string while the string is being lowered into the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 7484575
Abstract: An apparatus for deflecting a tubular string preferably comprising at least one side nozzle near the lower end of a first tubular string. The nozzle permits passage of a fluid therethrough from the first tubular string bore and deflects the first tubular string in a substantially horizontal direction. A second tubular string may be lowered over the deflected first tubular string. The second tubular string and the first tubular string are preferably lowered into the sea floor for maintaining their deflection. A method for deflecting a first tubular string and securing the first tubular string in the deflected state preferably comprises lowering the first tubular string axially so that the lower end of the first tubular string is near the sea floor. Preferably, a fluid, such as seawater, is propelled down through the bore of the first tubular string and through at least one side nozzle near the lower end of the first tubular, wherein the fluid moving through the side nozzle deflects the first tubular string.
