  • Patent number: 4523404
Abstract: An insect killing device has an electrically powered light source surrounded by an electrically conductive grid, the light source and grid being enclosed within a dielectric housing having a side wall which is closed at its upper end by an impervious top and which defines an open port at its lower end. The light source and the grid are energizable by an electric AC power source external to the housing via electric circuit components located in the housing. The side wall has an array of openings through which insects attracted by the energized light source may pass to come into contact with and be electrocuted by the energized grid. The grid is supported on a dielectric carrier and is separably connected to the electric circuit components.

  • Patent number: 4514873
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning bar-mounted remnants of carbon blocks includes a machining station defining a working position. A breaking device is provided for loosening incrustations adhering to the remnants at the working position. The individual remnants are moved into the working position by a lifting table. The breaking device is constituted by two blades which are displaceable transversely of the direction of movement of the lifting table. An overhead conveyor is provided for moving the remnants into the machining station.

  • Patent number: 4515410
Abstract: A rack assembly for a mine winning machine drive arrangement is described. The rack assembly is associated with a longwall conveyor along which a mine winning machine is movable by the drive arrangement. The rack assembly is constituted by a plurality of rack sections and a plurality of support members for connecting the rack sections to the longwall conveyor. Each of the rack sections has a respective downwardly-extending coupling pin at each end thereof, each of the coupling pins extending through an elongate slot in a respective support member with a predetermined amount of play. Each of the coupling pins is provided with a retaining member for preventing that coupling pin from moving out of the associated slot. The rack assembly is such that the rack sections of each adjacent pair of rack sections are relatively pivotable in vertical and horizontal directions, and are relatively movable to a predetermined extent in the longitudinal direction of the rack assembly.

  • Patent number: 4513874
Abstract: A pressure relief device for a metal container having a generally cylindrical side wall and being of the type adapted to contain fluids under pressure. The device includes a concave closure element circumferentially joined to one end of the container side wall. The closure element is deep drawn of tempered steel, with a generally convex tab member integrally formed in a central area thereof. The tab member is partially circumscribed by a weakened line of reduced material thickness, and the closure element has a structural integrity which reacts to an overpressurization of the fluid in the container by undergoing a partial eversion which initiates a fracture along the weakened line accompanied by an outward deflection of the tab member, thereby permitting the overpressurized fluid contents to escape through the fracture.

  • Patent number: 4511096
Abstract: In a wire drawing machine having at least one station with upper and lower blocks and an associated spinner carrying a transfer sheave, the blocks and spinner being rotatable relative to each other about a common axis defined by a drive shaft to which the lower block is drivingly connected, the improvement comprising controllably shifting the spinner axially on the drive shaft into and out of frictional contact with the lower block.

  • Patent number: 4509768
Abstract: For use in detachably mounting an implement to a vehicle, the vehicle having associated therewith an adjustable take-up frame having at least one coupling element arranged to coact in engagement with a counter-coupling element on the implement, the improvement comprising: a mounting plate arranged on the implement in a substantially vertical plane extending transversely with respect to the working direction of the implement and the vehicle, the counter-coupling element being in the form of an open hook secured to and protruding rearwardly from the upper portion of said mounting plate, and the coupling element being in the form of a horizontal pin extending between two laterally spaced cheek plates, the said cheek plates forming part of the take-up frame, with said horizontal pin being arranged for engagement beneath said hook as the latter is received between said cheek plates.
