  • Patent number: 6478335
Abstract: A universal fit fuel tank includes two forward adjustment channels and one rear adjustment channel. The adjustment channels are formed by attaching a retainer plate over indentations in a tunnel, the tunnel extending longitudinally through the fuel tank. Each retainer plate has an adjustment slot located over each indentation in the tunnel. A bracket is movably attached at each adjustment channel for attaching the fuel tank to a frame. Each bracket is attached to the fuel tank by passing a bolt through a hole in the bracket, through the adjustment slot, and into the adjustment channel, where the bolt threadingly engages a nut.

  • Patent number: 6381576
Abstract: A diagnostic and treatment information data structure encapsulates, with or without identifying a specific patient, information regarding a particular diagnosis-treatment cycle for an individual patient. The diagnostic and treatment information data structures for a number of diagnosis-treatment cycle may be combined within a database for analysis in outcomes or cost effectiveness studies. A relational database which assists the health care provider in formulating the diagnostic and treatment information data structure for a specific diagnosis-treatment cycle can, within a user interface, display information determined during the outcomes or cost effectiveness studies to influence the health care provider at the point of decision. Effective analyses of diagnostic, treatment, and outcomes information and guidance for health care professionals based on such analyses is thus facilitated.

  • Patent number: 6296431
Abstract: The present invention is for a fastener device used to releasably fasten a first object and a second object. The fastener device is self-contained and includes a unitary housing that is releasably fastened to the first object. The housing has an annular wall that defines an exterior surface, an interior surface, and an upper and lower opening. Within the housing, extending radially inwardly from the interior surface is a housing stop shoulder. A retaining cover is threadingly attached to the housing at the lower end of the housing. The retaining cover is retained within the housing by a retainer ring. The fastener device also includes a threaded stud that is located within the housing. The stud includes an enlarged section which mates with the housing stop shoulder when the fastener is in a fully engaged position. The engagement of the enlarged section and the housing stop shoulder serves to retain the stud within the housing when the fastener is in a fully engaged position.

  • Patent number: 6098736
Abstract: A swing arm assembly with the swing arm side plate on the drive side of the motorcycle being spaced inward from the corresponding motorcycle frame side plate wherein the belt or chain extends between the swing arm side plate located on the drive side of the motorcycle and the corresponding motorcycle frame side plate, instead of extending inward of the swing arm side plate.

  • Patent number: 6095736
Abstract: A small, compact, self-contained fastener. The fastener has a cylindrical housing of which one of the embodiments has threads located on its exterior for releasably securing the housing to a one of the two objects being fastened. Inside the housing is located a cooperating member which extends in the axial direction of the housing. The cooperating member is movable between an engaged position in which the cooperating member engages the second object and a dis-engaged position in which the cooperating member does not engage the second object. The cooperating member has a cooperating member stop shoulder opposed to the housing stop shoulder and adapted to mate with the housing stop shoulder when the cooperating member is in the engaged position. When the cooperating member is in the engaged position, the cooperating member can retain the second object at a selected position with respect to the first object.

  • Patent number: 6037594
Abstract: A passive infrared motion detector that creates a detection pattern with non-diverging insensitive zones. The sensing elements are of alternating polarity and each has a width w. An optical collection system directs infrared radiation onto the sensing elements. The sensing elements are separated by a distance equal to an integer multiple of width w, with the integer being at least two. The optical centers of the optical collection system are separated by an integer multiple of width w, with the integer being at least two. The arrangement of the optical centers and the sensing elements results in a detection pattern with non-diverging insensitive zones, with the insensitive zones having a negligible width.

  • Patent number: 5976339
Abstract: The dimensional boundaries of a part are determined in a computer CAD/CAM system, including x, y, and z dimensions. A reference surface is provided and a first incremental layer of mold material is formed on the reference surface. The first incremental layer of mold material is selectively interrupted to define at least one dimensional boundary of the object. A first incremental layer of object material is formed upon at least the reference surface and assumes the dimensions defined by the interruption in the layer of mold material. The steps of forming incremental layers of mold and object material are repeated until the object or part is fully fabricated and all dimensional boundaries are defined.

  • Patent number: 5949615
Abstract: The improved disk drive system has an improved head gimbal assembly having a mounting plate with an attachment portion for attachment to an actuator arm and a distal end for mounting the read/write heads, or load beam assemblies, thereto. The mounting portion and distal end of the mounting plate are vertically offset such that when the attachment portion is attached to the actuator arm, the distal end of the mounting plate is centered between opposing sides of adjacent disks, thereby permitting a smaller spacing between adjacent disks. The new swage type connection between the mounting plate and the actuator arm has a hole in the actuator arm and has a spud located on the attachment portion of the mounting plate. The spud has a cylinder having an outer diameter such that the cylinder can fit inside the actuator arm hole. A distal end of the cylinder has a lip protruding inwardly from an inside diameter of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5862777
Abstract: A feeder for feeding large wild animals. The feeder has an enclosure for holding feed. A reduced opening toward the bottom of the feeder allows the feed to pass therethrough. The feed enclosure is adapted to cooperate with a feed dispensing apparatus that controls the flow of feed from the reduced opening and is capable of intermittently and selectively dispensing feed by propelling the feed from the reduced opening away from the feeder and within the reach of the animals. A single post supports the feed enclosure above the ground and out of reach of the animals being fed.

  • Patent number: 5782285
Abstract: The die has first and second die halves, each die half having a plurality of cavities that, when the die halves are in a closed position, align with the cavities in the other die half, thus defining a plurality of voids that define the objects to be formed. A spacing between the front surfaces of the die halves during the injection step of the cycle helps to increase the number of parts that properly release from the die.
