Abstract: A proteinaceous adhesive composition in which a dry mix comprised of protein, solubilizing agents and fillers is added to water containing tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol at the time of use. The adhesive composition is especially useful in joining untreated and fire-retardant-treated porous substrates to fire-retardant-treated porous substrates as well as joining a porous substrate to a relatively non-porous substrate and provides advantages of good bond strength and increased assembly time.
Abstract: Portable trussed adapter frames are removably coupled to the ends of a standard 20 ft. intermodal container to extend it to an effective length of 40 ft. whereby the container can be carried on a skeletal chassis without the necessity of providing separate specialized chassis equipment for 20 ft. containers carrying dry freight or liquid commodities.
Abstract: A method of reducing psychogenic impotence by ingestion of neostigmine bromide or neostigmine methyl sulfate at a time prior to sexual attempt and in an amount sufficient to produce sensual stimulation. Administration by oral mucosal absorption, i.e. sub-lingually enhances the effect of the medication.
Abstract: A pre-mixed adhesive composition comprised of a vinyl acetate polymer emulsion including a cross-linking catalyst and a cross-linking inhibitor providing a good cured water resistant Type II bond and extended shelf life so that the adhesive composition will not gel over an extended period of time and will therefore be usable for direct gluing application to semi-porous and porous substrates.
Abstract: A structural sandwich for use as a truck, trailer, van or intermodal container wall and method of making the same. The sandwich comprises a fiberglass reinforced plywood plastic unit having one or both facings which are in the form of a sheet or film of a high-impact, weather-resistant, low-haze, non-brittle, substantially non-porous acrylic composition, the unit being made into an integrated sandwich of 20 foot lengths or more by an efficient vacuum molding method.
Abstract: A method of stimulating the growth of woody stemmed plants by applying to the plants S-ethyl-N,N-dipropylthiocarbamate alone or combined with N,N-di-n-propyl-4-trifluoromethyl-2,6-dinitroaniline, known generally as trifluralin.
Abstract: A laminated artist's board comprised of a rear substantially rigid backer, a front paintable member in the form of a plastic coated paper, cotton duck or linen sheet, and an intermediate flexibly resilient member wherein the range of hardness of the combined front and intermediate members is such that pressure applied on the paintable member with a brush will produce a dent of limited depth that will recover substantially instantaneously so that the artist can retain his techniques and habits of painting on canvas. The board is less expensive than canvas, is easily cropped and is resistant to humidity and/or temperature changes.

Abstract: A soft-feel handgrip for a handle construction having cushioning members for the top and bottom of the grip and a thermoplastic sheath wrapped around each member with concealed overlapped sheath ends and a method of making the handgrip employing dielectrical sealing. The invention also encompasses a handgrip in which the sheaths for the top and bottom of the handgrip may be different, i.e. one can be a porous non-thermoplastic sheath while the other can be a thermoplastic sheath, yet the instant method will effectively seal the disparate members dielectrically and at the same time conceal the sealed overlapped ends of the sheaths thereby enhancing the esthetic appeal of the handle.

Abstract: A plastic polehydral electroplating barrel whose rails, end heads and perforate panels are made of a mineral or fiberglass-filled thermoplastic resin, preferably fiberglass-filled polypropylene, in which the perforate panels are made of modules which when abutted edge to edge form the 30 or 36 inch panel, each module being made of a relatively thin perforate plate injection molded to contain an increased number of square drainage holes and a plurality of crossed ribs upstanding from the plate to strengthen it, those edges of the modules which engage in the rail and head grooves being reinforced to reduce load stress at the connecting points. The modules can be held in abutting relation unconnected to each other in the final barrel assembly, or can be interconnected by tongues and grooves, or can be welded together. The ribbed injection molded perforate panels can be used as inserts to make barrel halves or barrel bodies by matched metal low pressure molding.
Abstract: A method of stimulating the growth of roses, particularly in greenhouses, by applying to the rose bushes N,N-di-n-propyl-4-trifluoromethyl-2,6-dinitroaniline, known generally as trifluralin, in combination with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). The method also comprises applying trifluralin and 2,4-D in combination with cacodylic acid.

Abstract: A method and means of teaching children alphabet recognition and learning handwriting in which a plurality of transparencies are provided, each with one of the nine basic shapes required to construct all the letters, lower and upper case, and a transparency of a figure, such as a house, is also provided with the floors or stories defining the desired spacing. The transparencies are superimposed stepwise to construct a given letter in the spatial boundaries and the child, using a kit comprised of a card on which the figure is represented and components, such as plastic pieces, in the form of the nine basic shapes, repeats the demonstrated method. Thereafter, the child repeats the letter constructing process by removably placing basic letter components on a picture of the figure on the wall or easel so that the teacher may observe the child's learning progress. Finally, the child draws the letters on papers having horizontal lines spaced apart for proper placement of the letters.
Abstract: Pressure polished transparent unfilled polycarbonate sheet substantially free of ripples, wiggles, extrusion die lines, and stresses and having a light transmittance greater than, a percentage haze lower than and a distortion lower than the as extruded sheet so that the polished sheet can be mechanically or thermoformed into such articles as airplane windshields, canopies, protective headgears and see-through enclosures. The sheet is made by polishing it between mirror finish plates using a sequence of preheating the as extruded sheet to the heat distortion temperature at zero or minimal pressure, heating to higher temperatures while rapidly increasing the pressure so as to transfer the mirror finish from the plates to the sheet surfaces, and cooling the sheet while decreasing the pressure to fix the mirror finish in the sheet surfaces as the sheet contracts and solidifies.
