  • Patent number: 4321723
Abstract: A compact hair brush particularly suitable for traveling. A flat housing is provided with a plurality of rows of transversely mounted bristles. Each row of bristles is individually mounted on a pivoted bar. A longitudinal operating rod pivotally connects to each bar above the pivot point. Longitudinal movement of the bar causes a 90.degree. pivotal movement of the bars. A manually engageable portion of the rod extends out of the housing for operating the rod. After the housing is opened to expose the bristles, the rod is operated to pivot the bars and cause the bristles to stand up in vertical operating position. The brush is now ready for use. Reversely, the rod is operated to pivot the bars and cause the bristles to lie flat in the housing. This permits closing the substantially flat housing. The construction lends itself to many variations in the housing. The manually engageable rod may be positioned in various portions of the housing depending on the design used.

  • Patent number: 4231294
Abstract: A toy train in which each track length or section is mounted in a base having a spaced longitudinal slot parallel with the tracks and outside of the tracks. In addition to the conventional rails, and lying between them, a pair of spaced parallel rails are mounted for carrying the electric current to the train. A transparent curved cover is arched over the tracks with the edges of the cover entering the slots in the base. When the track lengths are joined at the ends, a connecting strip also joins the contiguous edges of the transparent cover to form a continuous enclosed transparent tube. The train is generally annular to fit the tube. Besides the conventional flanged wheels for riding the rails, the train is also provided with a pair of grooved wheels adapted to engage the electrical rails. This not only supplies the electrical current to the train, but also serves to hold the train on the tracks and prevent derailment at high speeds especially around the curves.

  • Patent number: 3976059
Abstract: A therapeutic leg and foot device comprising an L-shaped member having an elongated channel-like portion adapted to fit the posterior region of the lower leg and a foot portion extending integrally at right angles therefrom. The integral connection is curved to avoid contact with the patient's heel when the device is in place. The channel shape flattens out at the curved portion and is narrowed to promote the required flexing at this point. The device is constructed of resilient transparent acrylic plastic material which is resilient under a stress load but has sufficient rigidity to maintain a bed patient's foot in properly disposed position to prevent bed sores or drop foot. However, when used in the correction of drop foot, the foot portion is flexed away from the perpendicular to an obtuse angle with the leg portion to conform to the deformity. In this position the device exerts a 30 to 50 lb. pressure on the foot area to bias the foot back into normal position.
