  • Patent number: 5408327
Abstract: A process and arrangements for photothermal spectroscopy (thermal wave analysis) by the single-beam method with double modulation technique. A single-beam method is developed making use of the advantages of double modulation technique in detecting the photothermally generated difference frequency without requiring partial beams and while achieving extensive absence of intermodulation, the intensity of the laser beam is modulated before striking the object in such a way that the modulation spectrum substantially contains a carrier frequency (f.sub.1) and two sideband frequencies (f.sub.1 .+-.F.sub.2), wherein f.sub.2 is the base clock frequency of the modulation, a regulating detector and a control loop intervening in the modulation process suppress that component of the base clock frequency (f.sub.2) in the same phase with the mixed frequency of the carrier frequency and sideband frequencies.

  • Patent number: 5405634
Abstract: The invention concerns a novel process and a device for stabilizing the shape of both long and short pasta. A small amount of water, e.g. 0.4% to 1.2%, is added to the surface of the product while it is still hot in a water addition member (27) at the end of the drying or climate zone (9) and the product is then cooled in a cooling arrangement (29). The pasta are then stacked in the traditional manner for stabilizing insofar as this is required for the subsequent packaging process. In this way, subsequent cracking which was previously often unexplained can be avoided even when very extreme drying climates and short drying periods are used.

  • Patent number: 5303870
Abstract: The invention is directed to a new method for producing milled grain products such as flour, semolina, middlings, etc., wherein the material is repeatedly ground by means of rolls and sifted with the system of advanced milling. It is suggested that the material be guided again at least twice via double-roll grinding stages with sifting between the double grindings, wherein the material is sifted in each instance following the double grinding. In an especially preferred manner, a corresponding new mill with at least two double-grinding passes is preferably constructed as an 8-roll mechanism (70). In an especially preferred manner. The new mill comprises a combination of eight- (70) and four-roll mechanisms (142, 151). A screening surface which is at least 20 to 50% larger is used for the double grinding.

  • Patent number: 5194869
Abstract: A ranging method for measuring the flight distance of a flight object is implemented by means of a simple system construction. The ranging method is also capable of continuing ranging even if an interruption occurs in data transmission. The ranging method comprises the steps of inserting ranging pulses in a telemeter signal transmitted from a transmitting apparatus provided on the flight object, separating and extracting a ranging pulse from a telemeter signal received by a receiving apparatus provided on the ground side, obtaining a time difference between the ranging pulse and a reference clock signal generated in the receiving apparatus on the basis of a time reference equal to that of the transmitting apparatus (clock signal periods t1 and t2 of both time references are equal), and calculating the flight distance.
