The control 22 disconnects the transmission clutch 3 and controls the engine E to a predetermined rotation speed for a predetermined time when the determination by the first engine stall risk determination 22 is affirmed.

A deformable member will be secured through seals to ensure a smooth surface. Actuation may be through a shape memory alloy material or provision of mechanical actuators to cause deformation of the contiguous surface.
