Abstract: A system and method are provided for calculating and displaying volume to identify aggressive buying or selling activity. In a preferred embodiment, market information such as the inside market, last traded price, and last traded quantity is received from the electronic exchange and is used to assist a trader in determining the initiative side of a trade, either bid side or ask side. Once a determination is made, the result may be used to assist a trader analyzing the market volume. Other features and advantages are described herein.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for a fail-operational global time reference for a synchronous redundant data bus including multiple pluralities of timing servers cross-coupled between a plurality of buses in said redundant synchronous data bus system, the apparatus comprising each said timing server of the multiple pluralities of timing servers configured to transmit, receive, and monitor synchronization signals, to store a unique constant, and to independently and automatically select as timing master one or more timing servers from among the multiple pluralities of timing servers based on said synchronization signals received from one or more of said timing servers of said multiple pluralities of timing servers and further based upon a relationship among said unique constants stored in each timing server. Methods comprising selection protocols are also provided.

Abstract: In accordance with a specific embodiment of the present invention, an image is projected upon a surface. The image can include a pattern having a plurality of individual shapes used to measure and map the surface. The plurality of individual shapes include features that are detectable in a direction parallel to the plane formed by a projection axis of the projected shapes and a point associated with a view axis. The image further comprises a feature containing an encoding information for identifying the plurality of shapes individually. The feature containing encoding information can be a separate feature from each of the plurality of individual shapes, or may be a feature integral to the plurality of individual shapes. The feature containing encoding information is oriented such that the encoding information is retrieved along a line perpendicular to a plane formed by the projection axis and the point along the view axis.
