  • Patent number: 5308216
Abstract: A forwarder has an elongate rigid chassis with a cab at a forward end, a load carrier on the chassis, and a crane serving the load carrier. Four wheels at the front are mounted as a pair on each side, each pair on a common yoke to form a bogie. The bogies can pivot relative to the chassis for up and down movement of the wheels, but the wheels are non-steerable. A single wheel at each side at the rear of chassis is steerable, to provide steering of the forwarder. The cab, the operator, the load lifting device and the load carrier always have the same, fixed, orientation at all times.

  • Patent number: 4987942
Abstract: A door structure including a retractable cover which has a rolling up section which is rotated so as to roll up and unroll a portion of the cover. Generally an upper edge of the cover portion is fixedly mounted to a roof portion of a door structure and the lower edge is free. The rolling up section is non-rotatably connected to the cover portion along a center line. Rotation of the rolling up section in one direction rolls up the cover portion and rotation in the other direction unrolls the cover portion. The rolling up section moves up and down respectively with the rolling up and unrolling of the cover portion. The rolling up section can be caused to rotate by toothed wheels at one end engaging with spaced rollers mounted on a framework associated with the cover. The cover portion extends, in a particular arrangement, between two end portions, although only one end portion may be provided.

  • Patent number: 4984961
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for handling and transporting logs from felling site to consumer, the logs being loaded at the felling site on a cross-country vehicle (1) which carries the logs to a landing where they are unloaded and loaded anew, viz. on a road vehicle which tranports the logs to the consumer. The logs loaded on the road vehicle (1) are bundled, preferably already at the felling site, by means of chains (17) to form a bundle of logs which is maintained intact or unbroken during reloading from the cross-country vehicle (1) to the road vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4970837
Abstract: A chimney covering comprises a flashing in the form of at least one metal sheet applicable in the same plane as a sloping roof and provided with a collar, a tubular jacket applicable around a chimney pot, and a tubular connecting piece mountable between the jacket and the collar in such a manner that the lower part of the connecting piece encloses at least parts of the collar while the lower part of the jacket encloses parts of the connecting piece. The jacket has an upper end extending at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the jacket while the lower end thereof is obliquely cut at an angle of about 45.degree.. The connecting piece has a first end extending at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the connecting piece while the opposite end thereof is obliquely cut at an angle of preferably 22.5.degree.. The connecting piece is adapted to be turned with the above-mentioned first end facing downwards for small roof slopes and with the above-mentioned second end facing downwards for large roof slopes.

  • Patent number: 4948050
Abstract: A rotary liquid spray atomizer for aerial spraying is driven by a variable speed motor, driven in turn by power from a variable speed AC generator. The generator is driven from a power take-off from the engine of the spraying aircraft, a drive assembly includes a device for controlling the speed of the generator relative to the speed of the engine. The particularly convenient drive assembly between the generator and the power take-off is a hydraulic motor, which drives the generator, driven by a hydraulic pump driven from the power take-off. The speed of the hydraulic motor can be controllably varied. Conveniently the AC motor is a synchronous motor.

  • Patent number: 4937887
Abstract: In a garment, such as briefs or diapers for incontinent patients, which employ hook-and-loop fasteners, impairment of fastener operation by accumulation of lint on the hook-fastener tab is avoided by storing the hook-fastener tab in a pocket of the garment when the garment is being laundered. Preferably, the hook-fastener tab is secured in the pocket by elastic material so that it can be extended, stretching the elastic material, to fasten it to the corresponding female or loop-type fastener tab and will automatically be retracted into the pocket by the elastic material, as soon as it is released. The pocket may comprise PVC or other semi-rigid pliable smooth material and may be fabricated together with the fastener tab separately from the garment and attached to it is a "retrofit". Alternatively, it may be formed integrally with the garment.

  • Patent number: 4915580
Abstract: A runner type wind turbine designed to utilize maximum of the available energy carried by low speed stream. This turbine has a turbine disc which deflects and discharges a wind stream in radial and parallel direction relative to the disc; a rotor construction permits the disc and its power shaft to be arranged and assembled in a vertical or a horizontal position. The turbine includes a disc, mounted on a shaft located in central guides affixed to an outer stationary turbine stand. The disc mounts a plurality air blade shaped in such a way that the incoming air impinges on the blades radially, circumferentially and outwardly relative to the turbine disc.
