  • Patent number: 6528014
Abstract: A converter for transforming malodorous components of foul air comprises a porous layer having an oxidizing agent and an aqueous solution of a promoter. The promoter is preferably a water-soluble ethylene oxide or propylene oxide adduct. The layer is typically used in a gas-handling system to eliminate the foul air from a toilet or a bedpan. The layer can be used alone or with a second layer of activated charcoal. A Lewis acid and/or a Lewis base can be also used with the converter.

  • Patent number: 6491314
Abstract: A vehicle trailing arm suspension has an axle mounted to a pair of trailing arms through axle-mounting assemblies that include one or two beam-axle connectors mounted to one of the arms through a bushed connection and connected to the axle through a collar that receives the axle. An elastomeric layer is positioned between the axle and the collar for articulation. Each beam-axle connector can include an arcuate plate at the other end thereof and through which the beam-axle connector is mounted to the axle through welding or a compression mounting. The compression mounting includes a hollow wrapper band under tension sufficient to compress the axle to prevent movement of the axle with respect to the wrapper band under ordinary service conditions. A radius tower can also be mounted to an axle through the hollow wrapper band.

  • Patent number: 6484984
Abstract: The invention relates to a bracket-mounting assembly for mounting a bar bracket to a vehicle frame, the bar bracket being adapted to carry vehicle accessories such as a mudflap. The bracket-mounting assembly attaches to a vehicle frame via a single bolt passed through a penetration in the vehicle frame and threadably connected to the bracket-mounting assembly by a central threaded hole in the bracket-mounting assembly. The bracket-mounting assembly further includes a generally vertically-oriented shaft opening for receiving a portion of the bar bracket and supporting the bar bracket with respect to the vehicle frame. The bracket-mounting assembly includes a rotation-resisting connector for inhibiting rotation of the bracket-mounting assembly relative to the vehicle frame about the axis of the bolt.

  • Patent number: 6470547
Abstract: The invention relates to a machining center comprising a pallet changing station in combination with a machining station. The pallet changing station includes a rotating column assembly supporting a platform on which multiple fixtures are supported and moved. A portion of the column assembly defines part of a hydraulic conduit for supplying hydraulic fluid from a fluid source to the fixture for use in clamping parts to the fixture. The integration of a portion of the hydraulic conduit with the rotating column reduces the tendency for the hydraulic conduit to become twisted during rotation of the column or for the various threaded connections of the hydraulic conduit from loosening.

  • Patent number: 6471223
Abstract: A lift axle suspension adapted to be mounted to a vehicle frame for selectively supporting a vehicle frame on an axle with ground engaging wheels includes a pair of trailing arm assemblies each of which includes a hanger bracket adapted to be mounted to the vehicle frame, a trailing arm pivotally mounted to the hanger bracket for pivotal movement relative to the frame about a pivot axis, a spring operably connecting the trailing arm to the vehicle frame for resisting the pivotal movement of the trailing arm about the pivotal axis toward the frame, an inflatable lift bag operably connecting the trailing arm to the hanger bracket and for selectively raising the trailing arm relative to the frame when the lift bag is inflated and an axle rigidly mounted to the trailing arm. The iift bag is positioned inboard of the hanger bracket and the trailing arm. The hanger bracket is adapted to be mounted to the outboard side of the frame rail.

  • Patent number: 6471228
Abstract: A bracket assembly for mounting an accessory on a vehicle. The bracket assembly comprises a frame-mounting block, an accessory-mounting plate, and a rotation-resisting fastener. The frame-mounting block has an inner face adapted to abut a vehicle frame, an outer face spaced from the inner face, and a frame-mounting opening passing through the frame-mounting block transverse to the inner face for receiving a frame-mounting fastener. The accessory-mounting plate has an inner face oriented toward a vehicle frame when the bracket is mounted to the vehicle frame, spaced outwardly from the inner face of the frame-mounting block to accommodate a bolt head, and an accessory-mounting opening in the accessory-mounting plate for receiving a fastener for an accessory. The rotation-resisting fastener is mounted to the bracket and is adapted to resist rotation of the bracket about an axis passing through the frame-mounting opening.
