Abstract: This invention provides polymers having side chain groups selected from at least one of the following: a) a group comprising an ester of a polycarboxylic acid or polycarboxylate salt, an aminoalkylphosphate ester, or an ammoniumalkylphosphate ester; b) a group comprising (1) an alkanolamino group, (2) a fatty quaternary ammonium moiety, (3) a heterocyclic ring moiety having at least five members, which ring has at least one nitrogen atom, said ring further comprising either unsaturation or at least one additional heteroatom, or (4) both (2) and (3) c) a group comprising an alkylamino ethoxylate or an alkylamino propoxylate; d) a group comprising a trialkylhexahydrotriazine moiety; e) a group comprising a fatty alkyl ester; and f) a group comprising (i) a group as in a), and (ii) a group as in b). Also provided are processes for preparing polymers having such side chain groups.
Abstract: Portable shelters, shelter systems, and methods of deployment of such shelters are described. The shelters or housing units may be deployed in emergency housing situations and may be grouped into systems of shelters. One particular embodiment comprises a rigid top frame structure, a rigid bottom frame structure, and one or more collapsible support arms connecting the top frame structure to the bottom frame structure. The frame structures and the collapsible support arm(s) are sized and configured to form a shelter frame when the collapsible support arm(s) are in a fully extended position, and the top frame structure is brought into proximity with the bottom frame structure when the collapsible support arm(s) are in a collapsed position. Methods of rapid deployment of the shelters and systems of shelters are also described.

The article in one embodiment of the invention includes a laminar rock chip substantially surrounded by and imbedded within a plug having a solid material, the plug forming a top planar surface and a bottom planar surface substantially parallel with the top planar surface, the laminar rock chip forming a contact surface portion exposed at the top planar surface of the plug, a laminar plane of the laminar rock chip being substantially perpendicular with the top planar surface.
