  • Patent number: 7451385
Abstract: A channel encoding apparatus and method are provided in which part of the parity bits are set to erroneous bits, and full parity bits are created by correcting the erroneous bits using a channel decoding apparatus of a receiver in a communication system. In the channel encoding apparatus, in order to generate a coded bit stream by adding a parity bit stream to a message bit stream, a partial parity generator generates a partial parity bit stream as a part of the parity bit stream using the message bit stream, an erasure generator generates a bit stream having an erroneous value as the remaining part of the parity bit stream, and a decoder calculates the value of the parity bit stream by correcting the bit stream having the erroneous value using a parity-check matrix that determines the parity bit stream, the message bit stream, and the partial parity bit stream.

  • Patent number: 7428994
Abstract: A toy or game piece for producing color includes a housing formed in the shape of a toy; a color reader to read a sample and generate data; a processing device to process the generated data and determine a color of the sample based on the generated data; and a light emitting element to produce light corresponding to the determined color. The light emitting element may include two or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) of different colors. The processing device controls the intensity of each LED to cause the light emitting element to produce the corresponding color that is substantially similar to the determined color.

  • Patent number: 7417707
Abstract: An intermediary layer is introduced between a lens and a wafer for an immersion lithography process. A non-supercritical gas is provided and condensed to form a layer of liquid between the lens and the wafer. The substrate may be irradiated through the lens and intermediary layer. In addition, the intermediary layer may then be evaporated. The non-supercritical gas may include superheated steam which may be condensed to form a layer of water between the lens and the wafer. The wafer may be irradiated with one of a EUV light and UV light. A system for introduction of an intermediary layer between a lens and a wafer for an immersion lithography process is also provided. The wafer for use in the immersion lithography process may includes a hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces to provide enhanced contact angles between the wafer and the intermediary liquid layer condensed on the wafer and to reduce light aberration provided from a light source through the intermediary liquid layer.

  • Patent number: 7403506
Abstract: A handoff method is provided in a communication network including a plurality of fixed nodes attached to a router connected to at least one external network, and at least one mobile node associated with a current fixed node. The method detects movement of a mobile node; prepares a handoff of the mobile node from a current fixed node to potential fixed nodes upon detecting movement of the mobile node; decides whether to handoff to one of the potential fixed nodes as a target fixed node; and performs the handoff from the current fixed node to the target fixed node. The handoff method enables the mobile station to quickly move its association from one access point to another by minimizing a probe delay which is a primary contributor to handoff delay.

  • Patent number: 7400604
Abstract: Provided is a probing method for handoff including constructing a group of neighbor access points of a current access point with which the station associated, generating subgroups of the neighbor access points by the channel assigned to the access points, probing the access points by subgroup in a subgroup selection order, and selecting the neighbor access point having best link quality as a target access point to handoff. The probing method of the present invention is implemented with a novel non-overlap graph for constructing the neighbor graph such that the probing latency is dramatically reduced, resulting in reduction of handoff delay.
