  • Patent number: 4474267
Abstract: A method for controlling car body roll in high capacity railraod freight cars, in accordance with which a hydro-pneumatic roll control unit is incorporated in the car truck spring groups that support the respective truck bolsters. The roll control unit comprises a base housing defining a lower or outer cylinder having an upstanding piston rod structure equipped with a piston head that reciprocably mounts a tubular ram having a ram head that operates in the outer cylinder and defines an upper or inner cylinder in which the base housing piston head operates. An annular rolling seal is received in circumambient relation about and connected to both cylinders invaginating leak free relation thereto, which defines an annular reservoir about said cylinders with which both cylinders have communication.

  • Patent number: 4454953
Abstract: A three-part telescoping uncoupling lever assembly is disclosed for railroad cars which are equipped with standard draft gear cushioning. The assembly includes a plastic sleeve formed from ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (U.H.M.W.) and a pair of unitary extension bars in sliding engagement within the sleeve. One end of each extension bar is bent to form a lock lifter hook or a handle for performing the uncoupling function. Each extension bar includes a shaft and an integral bent retainer, the bent retainers being positioned within the sleeve. The retainers are maintained in parallel sliding arrangement within juxtaposed channels extruded in the U.H.M.W. polyethylene sleeve. The hook and the handle are located on opposite ends of the assembly, the total length of which can be varied automatically between maximum and minimum lengths, dependent upon the corresponding distance between the coupler and sill bracket as that distance changes due to coupler impact and side swing.

  • Patent number: 4449590
Abstract: An agricultural row marker assembly is provided which includes a three-piece articulated arm and which is hydraulically actuated. The assembly has a base which is connectable to an agricultural tool bar. A second arm is pivotally mounted to the first arm and a telescopingly extendable third arm is pivotally connected to the second arm. A marker disc is located at the distal end of the third arm. The arm is hydraulically actuated with the hydraulic cylinder acting on the first arm through a link member. A second link runs from the base to the second arm and a cable runs between the second link and the third arm so that extension of the hydraulic cylinders extendable rod urges all three arms in the substantially linear alignment.
