    Abstract: A control or regulating system for an automatic heat furnace is disclosed. This control system simplifies the construction of automatic gas furnaces for heating plants. The control system operates the furnaces with a high degree of efficiency and low pollutant emission, even at partial capacity. The adjusting element or mechanism for air is a blower with adjustable rotational speed which is driven by a motor. The motor is controllable by, preferably, digital pulse-width modulated control signals of a control aggregate acted upon by a regulator. A gas valve regulates the pressure of the gas supplied to the burner as a function of the air pressure in the line leading from the blower to the burner.

    Abstract: A simplified and economical power supply for redundant computer systems of control systems is disclosed. These control systems may include burner control for furnaces. The safety and reliability of the system are increased. The power supply comprises one single common voltage supply in the form of a self-monitoring power pack unit SN having a power pack NT, an undervoltage monitor UW and an overvoltage monitor. The self-monitoring power pack unit communicates with the redundant computer units P1, P2 via a supply line 1e. This single self-monitoring power pack unit is used according to the invention instead of the known fully parallel two-channel operation with two computer units and two power packs with appertaining components and supply lines. The overvoltage monitor UW and the undervoltage monitor UW are preferably checked for operability through the periodic transmission of a test signal.

    Abstract: A breast compression device is disclosed for use in a mammography system. A paddle support frame is provided which is slidably connected to a system arm of the mammography system. The paddle support frame is located between the x-ray tube and the detector of the mammography system. A compression paddle is pivotally connected within the support frame by a pivot connection. The pivot connection is located on a chest wall side of the support frame. The chest wall side is opposite the system arm. The compression paddle is substantially horizontal to the detector and is rotatable around the pivot connection. The compression paddle may include a breast portion which is substantially parallel to the detector and a chest wall portion which is substantially vertical to the detector. The compression paddle may also have a contoured shape where the chest wall portion is angled away from the system arm and the breast portion is contoured to mimic the contours of the breast.

    Abstract: An exhaust gas obturator comprises a tubular housing (11a) having a butterfly valve (14a,15) journalled in the wall thereof. The butterfly valve spindle (14a) passes through a chamber (24,25) on one side of the housing and carries a sealing ring (26) thereon and located in the chamber (24,25). The sealing ring (26) is a close sliding fit on the butterfly valve spindle (14a) when the obturator is closed, exhaust gas pressure on the upstream side enters the chamber (24,25) and urges the seal (26) against a cover plate (23a) thereby to prevent the escape of exhaust gas to atmosphere. The chamber (24,25) is preferably vented to the downstream side. The seal may alternatively be biased by resilient means (not shown).

Both the first and second valve mechanisms are actuated by a control unit. The control unit actuates the first valve mechanism to connect the chambers to the pressure fluid source or the pressure fluid sink based on the difference between the actual level of the vehicle body and the desired level.

The cross-section increases in this case from the bottom of the flow channel in the direction of the floor and from the end of the flow channel away from the suction channel in the direction of said suction channel. Thanks to this configuration of the suction channel, even distribution of the suction capacity is achieved over the entire width of the vacuum cleaner nozzle.

In the open state of a switchgear (2.1;2.2), the signal voltage (U.sub.1 ; U.sub.2) is a uniform signal (U.sub.1 ;U.sub.2).
